Prayer Request- Students from our University

A group of 5 freshmen from our university were walking across a train trestle last night when the train came. One was killed, one jumped into the river and was seriously injured. The 3 others were able to lay down in the middle of the tracks. One was badly hurt, the other 2 have minor injuries.

The town has 4 good sized colleges, and all of them preach not messing around the train tracks. It's not like they weren't warned about this...and they're not little kids. Nevertheless, it's horrible that this happened.

The university is a very tight knit community, especially in the dorms. I can't imagine what their halls are going through. I also gathered from different posts that they are all Worship majors, which is also a close program.

I'm so sorry to hear this, such a terrible tragedy. Definitely praying for their friends and family.

Was there no way for them to run away or get out of the way before the train go to them?

They were laying in the middle of the track to look at the stars when the train came. They tried to run, but couldn't make it to the other side in time. </div><div>

That's awful. I remember people used to go onto a train tressle near my college that was high above a river. I probably went up there a few times but I would not have gone far and would never have been in a position of danger (I've never been a risk taker). I think at that age people just don't think about the dangers of things like this and think they are invincible. It is a horrible thing for these kids and their families. I'll be praying.
