What is your mom wearing?

Hi Everyone

What are your mothers / FMIL wearing for the ceremony and reception?

Is there a colour she should/shouldn't be wearing.
Is her outfit very heavy?

I'm curious about how other brides-to-be's mothers will be looking :)

I have no idea what my mother will be wearing; I expect something reasonably dressy. FMIL, if she shows up at at all, may actually arrive in a sari. She never wears them, as she opts for Western clothes for everyday wear, but I know she has a few for special occasions.

I bought my mom a new sari for the reception when I was in India last month, so I hope she wears that. She wanted a pink one with silver embroidery/work, so that is what I got her. I think she will wear a different sari from the plethora of saris that she already has for the ceremony.

I know my wedding is a year away, but my mom wants to look normal for once. hahah. since she always wears a customized 2 piece that is made out of fabric from thailand, she wants to branch out and wear something different for my wedding. Not sure what she has in mind but im hoping its nice. I suggested a nice dress from "Tadashi" but she said "I'll think about it". Im sure that in the end, she's going to end up in another customized thai dress.

As for FMIL, no clue. we have a year to find out. =)

how about your mom and fmil?

I have no clue, we're not even close to that yet. As for what she SHOULD NOT wear (both my Mom and my FMIL), black is NOT an option for anybody in the family.

I'd really like my Mom to wear something ultra beautiful. As for my FMIL, she goes to India every few years and I'm sure she'd pick something beautiful.

Maybe because the Bride wears it in a Hindu ceremony? It's like a MIL or Mom wearing a white dress at a Christian ceremony. Maybe it's more of a faux paus thing? No clue.
