wedding announcement?

thanks!

Re: wedding announcement?

  • First, annoucements are sort of outdated and not really used anymore.  Are you sure you even need it?  They're generally only used when the couple elopes now.

If you do send it, it's should be worded sort of like an invitation.  "Mr and Mrs MOB and FOB annouce the recent marriage of their daughter..."  A wedding party has no place on the annoucement.

  • well i meant announcement like for a newspaper, which i know people still do.
  • Just grab a copy of the paper and use some of the ones in there as a template.

  • Every paper seems to have its own style. I read through several from the paper I wanted to put the announcement in and followed what seemed to be their prototype.
  • Your newspaper may have a form that they have you used so you may want to contact them or check their web site.  Alternative: buy a couple printed copies of the paper you wat to run your announcement in and see how they write them. Be sure to find out if they only run those types of announcements on specific dates.
Announcements aren't as common in large city papers but are still very common in newspapers for smaller towns and suburbs of large cities.

I always enjoy reading them but then I grew up in a small town. (write ups for divorces there list the reasons for divorce, settlement of property, who gets custody, $ of child support and if alimony is awarded, how much that is - you get all the dirt in once nice paragraph).

. Some papers will include details such as your wedding party, description of your dress, what the bridesmaids wore, what the flowers were.  I've read some newspapers that even include the wedding parties relationship to the bride (sister of the bride, college friend of the groom, etc).  And include information about your education (The bride is a graduate of xxx with a degree in xxx and is a xxxx for xxx corporation.  Some will also list the name of the officient.

Others simply state that xxx, daughter of Mr & Mrs X and yyy, son of Mr & Mrs. Y  were married on ddmmyy at (church or facility name, city, state). A reception followed at xxxx   The bride is a graduate of, yada yada.  The groom is a graduate of yada yada.  The couple honeymooned in xxxxxxx and now reside in city, state.
  • I've only seen engagement annoucements in the newspaper.  They usually say X and Y got engaged on whatever date and plan to be married on whatever date.  Then you talk about where you went to school, grew up, what you do, who your parents are and all that kind of stuff.  I've never heard of putting in details about the wedding or the wedding party.
