I am fantastic. School's DONE for the semester. I turned in that God-awful 27(!) page paper, and now it's smooth sailing for the next month. I think I might do some Christmas shopping for Rick today, and I'm supposed to do hot yoga with a friend later. I'm not exactly looking forward to it

I hate getting all sweat when it's cold outside because I'm wimpy like that. Congrats on being done for the semester! It's such a nice feeling knowing you won't have to mess with school stuff for a month.

One of our best friends (FI's best man) is visiting us from OOT today to tomorrow. We're going to a winery and going out for drinks tonight.

Then tomorrow I need to finish writing my Grad essays.

Mrs. Jesse, sorry about all the suckitude in your world. That's sad. :(

I WOULD LOVE 14 days! It's kind of nice that Christmas is on a Saturday, but it's harder for me to justify taking a whole lot of time off of work. Like...if it was on a WEDNESDAY, I'd likely work monday and then not go back until next week. This year, I'm not taking any days. Except for when I go to Toronto.

Good morning! FI and I are going Christmas shopping today. We only have his sisters and my nephew left to buy for, and each other but that'll be done on another day.

It's actually a little warm here compared to what it has been the last few days.
God I miss college. I wish I could have a month off from life in December as an adult. That would be awesome. I shoulda been a teacher.
    Posted by crfische
I have to admit, I'm kind of glad that I have to go for an extra semester..that means I get 1 more month of Christmas vacation (yay!) but THEN I have to do a 500 hour unpaid internship (boo!) then study really hard for a certification exam, and then maybe not be able to find a job. Can I just stay in college forever? Can that be my job?

Jesse, I have Christmas cards to address too Undecided Why do I do this to myself? And I'm hand addressing all of them, because my printer is being a POS and won't print on the envelope. I can only do 10-15 at a time before my hand gets tired and it starts to look like a toddler went to town on the envelopes.

Remind me what you're going for again, Jill?

I remember unpaid internship days on top of a full class schedule and being really poor. Those were the best days. F'real. Life was so simple then. I remember thinking MAN. I can't wait until I just have WORK and no school or homework and I CANT WAIT to actually get paid to work.

But I look back on those days with fondness :)

My degree will be in Child & Family Development, with an emphasis in Child Life. After my internship, I'll take the certification exam and will *hopefully* be a certified child life specialist. It's just a really competitive field, and you have to be willing to move to wherever you can find a job.

A certified child life specialist, huh? I've never heard of that! Sounds cool!

Jill, I've volunteered as a child life volunteer at a children's hospital on the oncology floor for 3 years.  I really liked my child life specialist.  I think it would be such a rewarding job!

Morning?!  It's not morning anymore.  If it were, I'd have to kill myself because this has been a schit day.  S.H.I.T. And?  I'M OUT OF WINE.

I just googled it, sounds awesome. It actually sounds like a social worker. Is there a clear distinction between the two?

I officially started my Christmas Break yesterday! Yay! Had a very brief visit with FI before heading home to my parents. Today is my mom's birthday, and my dad got her the Kitchen Aid stand mixer that she has been wanting for years. But since she is sickly, I'm going to use it first and make her a yummy birthday cake.

Oh by the way, it has been freezing here. It actually snowed on Tuesday! I know that may not sound like a big deal, but in Alabama snow in December is a pretty big deal. I have a feeling the only reason classes weren't cancelled was because it was right in the middle of finals.

I love talking about it, but I'll spare everyone :)

That's the website I was just on! :) I was just wondering if there was something a child life specialist is able to do that a social worker can't or what the difference was between the two?

Yes, there's a difference. You don't HAVE to have a CFD degree, but for certifcation you have to have a specific number of courses that deal directly with child development and hospitilized children. I've looked into social work as well-that's what Rick's mom tells people that I'm doing, but I'm not interested in getting my Master's at this point. Maybe in a few years.

Jill - that is really cool. I have never heard of that degree either. That sounds like something I would like if I ever get burnt out on teaching. I have thought about being a school guidance counselor, so we'll see, maybe I will go that route someday after teaching.

*sigh* Ever have those days where you just feel down and then everything that happens during the day just makes you feel worse? That's today.  I woke up feeling like poop because I somehow convinced myself overnight that I didn't get the job I interviewed for, then my friend here bailed on us for Christmas so she could randomly go to the US with her new, Swedish BF, H is sick and whiny and we went to go and try to find boots for me but they're all far too expensive or not warm enough.

Basically, I'm just in the midst of a grand ol' pity party.

Ugh. Yep, have definitely had those days. They're hard to shake. Hopefully you feel better :(

I think I'm most bummed that we now have no plans for Christmas and we once again can't do anything.  It's so hard.  So hard.

Aww, you poor thing Snippy. I hope the rest of the weekend goes better for you.

I feel you. Sometimes I get so depressed bc I can't shop and do things like I used to bc money is always so tight for us. But I can honestly say I am doing much better being positive than when I first moved down here. How long are you guys gonna be there?

I am trying not to think about Christmas since we won't be home again this year. The only good thing is that H will not be working on Christmas Day like he was last year, that really sucked. I felt like I was cooking just to be cooking in between crying a lot.

Hi everyone.  It's all gray outside, so I'm just wasting my day on the couch.  I have to go get some cat food, but I just dont feel like leaving the house.
