Dress Boutiques???

What dress boutiques would anyone suggest for bridal gowns in Columbus or the surrounding area??  We arent from the area and want to check out our options but are not sure where to go.  Any suggestions would be helpful!!  Thanks

I went to DB, Wendy's Bridal and Alan Ray Bridal. Needless to say, I bought my dress from Alan Ray Bridal. They were fabulous, although there were some mixed reviews and threads on this board a while back - you can go back some pages or search for them if you would like.

It all depends on your budget. I found my dream dress at Alan Ray and there was no turning back. The staff was excellent and they made it really easy to get me in for appts and things bc I was an out of state bride as well. I did not like Wendy's bridal, but that may just be me. There is another bridal salon in Worthington, I believe it is called LaJuene Marie, but they are really expensive I think. I never went there, but was considering it. There are a few more stores around town as well. I would recommend checking out the reviews page (believe there is one on the Nest) and also the other ladies on here should have good advice as well. Good luck - I definitely know how it is to be an out of state bride!

I went to La Jeune Mariee in Worthington, Big Rock Little Rooster in Columbus, and Bridal and Formal in Cincinnati. I had good experiences at all of them, but really loved Stacey at La Jeune Mariee and found my dress there. It really does depend on your budget though. Check their websites to see the price range on dresses at boutiques before you go. I think LJM has them about 1500-5000, BRLR seemed around 3000-5000 and Bridal and Formal has dresses at every price.

I went to Universe Brides in West Lafeyette, OH. They seriously have 1000's of dresses but the quality and price are a million times better than DB!! I didn't need an appt and Sandy helped me for over 4 hours.

They also have a policy if there is a dress you like and want to try on and they don't have it, you can put half the money down and they will bring it in for you to try on, but you don't have to purchase the dress... that money would just go to whatever dress you do buy.

Also if you buy a dress their they will either give you 20% off all of your BM dresses or make the BM dresses $99 depending on what style you choose.

Be fore-warned though, Universe Bride's website isn't terribly helpful.

After going to Bridal & Formal in Cincy and Wendy's and Alan Ray here in Columbus, I ended up getting my dress at Perfect Weddings in Lancaster.  They were having an Alfred Angelo trunk show at the time which is why I drove out there, but I ended up getting a Maggie Sottero dress (go figure).  Cheryl was my consultant and she was very nice and helpful.  The nice thing about Perfect Weddings is they store your dress there for free and will press it when you're ready to pick up.  The only bad thing is the lady who does alterations (I think her name is Ellen) is not very nice.

I don't like how Wendy's won't tell you the names of the designers of the gowns you're trying on.  It's all very shady.  And I had an awful experience at Bridal & Formal, but since they have so many dresses, it's a good starting point.  I got my bridesmaids' dresses from La Jeune Mariee which is the most adorable bridal boutique ever with higher-end dresses.  I'm so glad I didn't look for my dress there because I would have spent way more than I did!  Good luck!

Also, if you are on a budget, go to Hearts Entwined in Marion and the running of the brides at Filenes basement.  It was soooo much fun!

I suggest Wendy's Bridal. If you can get an appointment with Willy she will make you feel like the most beatiful bride in the world. I love her and the service I've had from Wendy's thus far.

It depends on your style and price range. I went to Wendy's (various styles in the under 4k range, bought my dress there because the dress was a perfect combination of everything I wanted), La Jeune Mariee, (classic styles with minimal detailing, 1k-5k, bought our bridesmaid dresses from there), Girls in White Dresses (various styles, slightly more detail than LJM, 1k-3k), BIg Rock Little Rooster (high fashion designers and styles, 3k-8k). I also went to European Bridal, Bridal and Formal, and Fabulous Bridal in the Cinci/Covington area and would recommend the trip.

I just bought my dress from Cincinnati Bridal & Formal. Even though it was a Saturday and pretty busy, I had an overall great experience. I had to wait a bit for my consultant (Cynthia) to be ready for me but in the meantime they pulled all the dresses I had brought pictures of for me to try on. There was a trunk show going on and they were pushing those dresses a bit, but that's how I found mine! The sales manager Shelly was great too and gave me a great deal.
