Hi there, we got engaged this past Saturday under the moonlight on the boat dock at Steiner Ranch Lake Club after a fantastic dinner at Mizu in Lakeway. We have been together a little over 2.5 years and we each have a daughter, mine is 6 and his is almost 10. The 6 year old is the flowergirl and the 10 year old will be a bridesmaid. His brother is a groomsman and nephew is ring bearer. Then each of our best friends will be maid of honor/best man. We are getting married on April 21, 2012 at the Steiner Ranch Lake Club...beautiful venue!!! We are hoping this is inexpensive but fun, simple and beautiful. We have both been married before, but I never had a wedding, we went to the JP, which is why we decided to have a "real" wedding.

Hey everyone! I'm Andie (Andrea) , my fiance is Chance. We got engaged on March 26. He proposed to me the second he arrived back from deployment. My nickname for him has always been gummy bear (haha... Don't ask!) so he placed my ring inside of a box of gummy bears and told me he picked them up on his stop in Germany and there was suppose to be some kind of prize inside. Who doesn't love a prize?! So, naturally I started dumping the gummies into my hand and there it was. My heart was racing and I looked at him and... Well, I'm sure you can figure the rest out! :-) Our original plan was to get married on May 12, 2012. We had finally selected a venue and a dj and a photographer picked out all kinds of decorations, set a color scheme and a rough idea of a wedding "theme" then... He was called up to deploy again. Grrr! So, its back to the drawing board! Our new date is now December 1, 2012 and our new aim is a rustic "winter" wedding. Anyone that can suggest in great indoor venues with a rustic feel, it would be greatly appreciated! Everything seems to be outdoors and I would kind of like to have the security of the indoors just incase the weather does not agree! Or, at least a venue with the option to do indoors or outdoors! Thanks guys and congrats to all of you!
Hi Guys. My name is Echo and I currently live in San Antonio with my FI, however, we couldn't find an outdoor venue we liked here in our budget so chose to expand our search and landed in the Austin Area. Our wedding date is 10-11-12 and we've been engaged FOREVER!-- since 04/2009. Because we are out-of-towners we chose as close to all inclusive as we could.
Venue(Ceremony/Reception): Angel Spring Event Center
Following Vendors provided by Angel Springs Caterer: Culinary Delights Flowers: Bouquets of Austin Cake (Brides/Grooms): Michelle Patisserie DJ (Ceremony/Reception): Complete Music
We found cheaper on our own:
Photographer: The Pros (Raymond M)
Services Renders as Gifts from friends/family
Officiate: My Step Dad Hair/Makeup: My FI cousin (He does amazing work! He's done weddings before and also does costume/halloween makeup)
Hello Everyone, I am Aaron and my fiance have been engaged since a month after we met. I know I know but we are getting married on our 1 year anniversary. It was love at first sight. We just knew we were meant to be. He is the perfect addition to my family as I have 3 kids from previous marriage. I truly believe God sent him to me right when he was ready. I have never in my life been happier. We are getting married in March 2012 but have not yet found all my venders. I am desperately searching for a nice affordable venue closer to Ft. Hood area or North Austin. if any one has any ideas please let me know.
I'm newly engaged and wanted to intrduce myself. My fiance and I got engaged on November 12th, 2011. He proposed in our apartment, just the two of us, exactly the way I wanted
We live in San Antonio, but will be getting married in Austin, since he is from there and, well, Austin is much better suited to our style.
No wedding date as of yet, but we are aiming for Spring 2013....it seems so far away, but we are starting our planning now, since we are the obnoxiously organized type. Our wedding will be largely DIY,but we plan on splurging on the venue and catering.
I'm Yasmin and fiance is Sean. We've been engaged since Memorial Day weekend and we are getting married on October 27, 2012 and we can't wait!! Just passed the 10 month mark

Hey! I'm Adrianne. Me and my fiance Amit got engaged the last week of July of this year and I've offically just started planning now! Yikes! We really want to get married in October 2012.
Hello Ladies! My name is Sonya. My fiance, Adam, and I got engaged on New Year's Day. The only catch, however, is that it is a secret as of right now. Only one other person, my best friend, knows about the engagement aside from the two of us, and, now, you all! We are waiting until I have a permanent engagement ring (I have a temporary one right now) for us to tell our parents and everyone else.
We are planning for our wedding to be onAugust 9th, 2014. Long time away, I know! We want to both be done with school, and August 9th will be our 4 year anniversary. I have already begun researching colors, venues, and all that good stuff. The way I see it is if I start planning now, I'll have every last detail perfectly planned. Is that crazy? LOL.
Hi everyone! My SO proposed at a New Braunfels vineyard in August of 2011. We're planning a commitment ceremony and reception at the same vineyard for October 2012. Our vendors so far are as follows:
Venue: Dry Comal Ceek Vineyard Caterer: Catering With A Twist Photographer: Our photog is the girlfriend of one of my SO's high school friends, Jama Pantel DJ: We're using a friend from home who has agreed to travel and do this for us Flowers: Still working on this one but will probably use "Shop Around the Corner" Officiant: Rev. Kim Session Ceremony Music: Terra Vista Strings Jewelry and brooches: Celebrations Bridal Hair/Makeup: Laura Ann Gregson with Spa AT The Lake (she is a friend of one of my longtime friends and so far I am very pleased with her) Bridal Portraits: Connect ATX (my friend owns this business and I know she knows her stuff about Austin and I can count on her for pulling off my vision for these photos)
txdtz, good choice going with catering with a twist! I'm looking at them too. The director of operations, Troy, is so great! I used to work with him, and I just love him.
Hello! I'm Lauren and I just got engaged this past Saturday! I'm from central Texas, but live in Washington DC now, so I'm planning my Texas wedding remotely. Looking at a few venues but Villa St Clair is at the top of the list. Anyone been there before?
My fiance is from Chicago and also Jewish (I'm not), so if you have any advice on good interfaith officiants, please let me know!
Hey guys, My name is Patricia and my Fiance is Mark. We got engaged February 25, 2012 in Napa Valley while touring some wineries. We have just set a date to June 1, 2013.
I'm Kelli kellacy on Instagram I'm getting married 01/12/13 at the Driskill Hotel I live in Houston, Texas but my inlaws demanded to get married at the Driskill and they are paying for that part so how could I say no. I will take whatever I can get at this point.
Right now the only vendors I have is the groupon photobooth I found: Ed's Photobooth and a videographer in Dallas that was super cheap and awesome: JChristopher Films
My name is Stephanie and I am getting married July 6, 2012 at Camp Lucy in Dripping Springs.

Hi everyone! My name is Lauren and my fiance Carl and I got engaged on April 28, 2012. We're getting married on Sunday, May 19, 2013 and just booked our venue today! We are going with Texas Old Town in Kyle and have reserved Redbud Hall.
I am so excited!! I found Texas Old Town to be a great deal and we are having less than 130 guests so their smallest hall is perfect for us. This is the only thing I've gotten done though, so far. I've done tons of online researching so I really need to get on contacting and meeting other vendors. We're on a budget per my parents but are paying for certain things ourselves.
We are hoping to have the ceremony outdoors, but we'd like to start around 5pm and obviously it will be warm. So we haven't finalized that yet, but we moved it up a great deal to be able to have it outside. Our original date I'd picked out was July 28th and an indoor ceremony, so the 2+ month loss of planning time has definitely thrown me!
I'm so glad to be on this site and able to read up on resources and reviews and such; it's awesome!!
My fiance and I have been engaged since the beginning of March 2012. We are getting married Augst 3, 2013. We are planning on an outdoor ceremony and inside reception. I am going to DIY a LOT of things for our wedding! I cannot wait!
The only thing we have done so far is the Venue: Texas Old Town!
My name is Lori. I made an error on my wedding date - it is actually ( date still is not confirmed) November or December of next year. I am getting married on my families ranch outside of Llano. We have an old barn that my dad is working on renovating for the wedding - including adding bathrooms. He says he is going to rent it out after we are done - he couldn't believe how much venues cost. I have been to Austin 6 times in the last 6 months looking for a venue and finally gave in to my dad. He promises warmth, fresh paint and clean dance floors. I have visited just about every venue and have a huge spreadsheet of costs and hidden costs and simply can't spend $5,000 and MORE on a venue - so I can provide help to other brides on this topic! Catering will probably bbq smoked by family, but will start the serach for DJ or band (which I wants since I have my venue budget to spend), videographer, minister, linens, table and chair rentals, bartenders and a photographer all willing to travel, decorations will be rustic (maybe mason jars and candles) and I think flowers will be DYI. I am also going to need a day of wedding coordinator. I think my mom will get her friends to decorate. We live in Kansas City we are both nurses, but all family lives in the Austin area - so wedding in Texas. Doing long distance planning so this forum is going to be very helpful. I can already tell, because I have been reading for months. Oh by the way - my soulmates name is Jeff!
Hello everyone! My name is Samantha, I'm currently in England and will be traveling back to the States for my marriage to my Honey. Our wedding date is December 28, 2012. We've been together since March 2010 and we're super excited to get married.
Venue: The Oasis on Lake Travis (Tentative) Colors: Looking into Purple, Lime Green and White or Teal Blue, Lime Green and White Caterer: The Oasis on Lake Travis (Tentative) Photographer: Complete Music, Video, Photo (Tentative) DJ: Music will be done via an iPod at this time Flowers: Haven't looked into flowers yet Officiant: No Officiant yet Jewelry and brooches: No jeweler yet Hair/Makeup: Madame Make-up & Hair (Tentative) Bridal Portraits: Complete Music, Video, Photo (Tentative)
My name is Edward Rice and I help people become better speakers. I came here to learn more about Austin's wedding scene and to give any possible advice (but I'll admit that areas like flower-arranging aren't part of my knowledge base).
I'd also like to pass along this video of a good maid-of-honor speech. I hope you or your MOH find it useful.
Hi everyone! My name is Michelle, my fiance is Aqeel, and we're getting married February 23 of this year--AHH ONE MONTH!!
Aqeel proposed in the backyard of my parents' house with family and friends present with sparklers and big signs that said, "Say Yes"
We are using the following vendors (and would love your reviews of any of them, if you used them) Also--this is very much a budget-friendly wedding. We're spending money on a couple of big things, but for the most part, it's DIY:
Ceremony/Reception location: Lakeside Pavilion in Marble Falls, TX Catering: Saucy's Catering (out of Marble Falls) Photography: Studio563 - Eric von Lehmden DJ/Entertainer & Photo booth: GOBO Entertainment Hair/Makeup: Grace Flipowitz from Jose Luis Salon on 6th Ceremony Strings: Angelic Strings (Austin) Officiant: Mikey Littau (my cousin) Tanning: Any suggestions on Airbrush tanning salon artists or spray tan products appreciated! Flowers:???? Making my own bouquets...yet don't know who to go through--suggestions?
Hello! I am getting married May 25th to my fiancee of 3 years! I heard about this forum from a friend awhile back. Goodluck to all of you beautiful brides!!
Currently live in Buda. We've booked Chapel Dulcinea @ 10:30am and Trattoria Lisina for 12:00pm in Driftwood for our October 19th wedding.
The dress is an Alfred Angelo from the Dream in Color collection; LOVE IT!! It was love at first sight!!
No formal proposal; we've been talking of getting married for a few months until he lost his job, so we put it off to make anything offical until he landed a new job. We've been together for about 2 years now.
His (then) 11 year old son is his official BM, and his best friend is his 2nd BM. My best friend is my MOH and my sister my other attendant. My 15 year old son and father will walk me down the aisle. And my bestie's son is our RB and my nephew's 2 year old daughter is going to be our FG.
Colors are purple and silver. My first wedding, his second. So, it's a budget wedding; $5-$6 at max.
Hey there every 'Knottie'! The name is Deanna, but all my friends call me Dee. So of course, you can all call me Dee! My gorgeous fiance is Aaron, and we're getting married June 15th of this year!!! Just a couple short months away, I can't believe it's almost here!
Aaron proposed on a gorgeous beach while we went up north to visit his family in South Carolina. He planned a picnic, we hung out and enjoyed the day time breeze while over looking the gorgeous ocean. Aaron is a 5th grade school teacher, and before asking me to marry him- he had me open up a folder full of pictures that were each hand drawn by every single last one of his 5th grade student. As I flipped each pictured, I noticed every drawing had the same message. I turned to Aaron and said, ''Oh how weird, every single of one your kids drew a picture of you on one knee propsing to me with a ring?" Still not getting the picture, I turn to look at him and there he was on one knee bending over, asking "Will you marry me?" In complete shock, I shook my head yes and cried my head off from complete disbelief. His job is his passion, and it was so incredibly special to have all of his kids in on the proposal he had planned so well. I've even kept all of the pictures and have hung them up through out my apartment. I love being reminded of that special day he proposed.
We are using the following vendors and so far so good!
Ceremony/Reception location: Private Residence in Lake Travis, TX Wedding Planning/Coordinator/Event Designer/Flowers: Christina Alfonso with
Me So Hungry
Catering: Me So Hungry Catering- they're creating a custom Southern Comfort
menu for us
Photography: Noveau Photography- Owner, Jessica Coombs DJ/Entertainer & Photo booth: Working on booking DJ John Classic
Looking forward to getting to know y'all through out your wedding planning! Best of luck to everyone! Hope everyone is having just as much fun planning as we are!
