Flower Costs?

Just got the proposal back from the florist and my goodness it is way more than we imagined... like double! For those of you who have decided on a florist, what are you all paying for flowers? If you don't mind me asking!

550 for my bouquet, 6 bridesmaids bouquets, corsages for MOB, MOG, my stepmom and my grandmother, and boutineers for FI, 6 groomsmen, FOB, FOG, my stepdad and our officiant. If I get a toss bouquet as well, that bumps it up to 585. I'm not paying for centerpieces or ceremony arrangements because my stepmother is DIYing them. I'm using a grocery store floral department instead of a freestanding florist, and I was not specific about what flowers to use when I went for the consultation. I just told him, "these are my colors, I want something in season and cost effective." So I wound up with stuff like carnations and roses instead of things like callas and orchids that you see a lot of in wedding flowers but are way more pricey.

It can really depend region to region, and then also if you're using seasonal flowers (which again is going to be impacted by you're region), but I'm paying:
- My bouquet: I think now $70, we'd said $65 but just made a change this week in fact
- Bridesmaid's bouquets: $45 each (I have six)
- Corsages (three-- my mom, my FMIL, and my grandmother, the rest of our grandmothers are deceased): $14 each
- Centerpieces: $28 each (12 total)
- We're doing boutonnieres off of Etsy

I gave my florist a budget of $1000 to work within. She is doing my bouquet, MOH bouquet, three corsages, 6 boutonniere and 10-12 simple centerpieces for which I am supplying the vases. To work within the budget she told me about cheaper flowers to use. I might splurge a little and add hydrangeas to a few though. I think it's better if the florist asks your budget first then to be totally surprised when you hear the actual costs.

Agreed, when we go for consultations with other florists I plan to give my price range first. We were using in season flowers to keep costs lower and I didn't think what I was asking for was extravagant by any means. I thought this would have been an easier check than it's turning out to be!

The flowers and DJ and of course venue were our biggest expense. I think flowers set the tone. I'm im NJ and everything is expensive here tho! I'm paying around 2500 for 7 high 7 low centerpieces 5 Bms 5 Gms flower girl my bouquet and church flowers

My flowers are expensive, this is what i am getting for around $4k, i say around bc it will change depending on how many tables/centerpieces when people start RSVPing....
-for 18 tables/centerpieces (thin champagne vase with orange dendrobium orchid and curly willow branches, submerged with an arrangement on top consisting of black magic & circus roses, green hydrangea, green spider mums, burgundy lillies, yellow dahlies, fall leaves and curly willow branches on top) and there will be rose petals and votives around the centerpiece
-7 BM bouquets, 2 JBM bouqets, my bouquet, throwaway bouquet,
-6 GM bouts (white for FI, mango calla lilly for everyone else), ringbearer bout to match FI
-corsages for my mom, FMIL, one grandma and one aunt (orchids)
-bouts for my dad and FFIL (quicksand rose)
-travel and set up & breakdown fees
-2 ceremony arrangements, white chiffon bows for the aisle, blessed mother bouquet (free), rose petals and votives for place card table (free), small vase arrangement for powder room (free),
-cake decor (rose petals and votives (free)

OMG! I havent done flowers yet...and not excited with these prices im hearing. I want to budget on $300. Me, 3 BM's, MOB, Grandmother, FOB, 3 GM's, FI. Not sure with centerpieces yet. Im trying to stay VERY far away from doing flower centerpieces b/c of the cost.

We're doing silk flowers for centerpieces, it's costing ~250 for 16 centerpieces there.

We got several floral quotes for ceremony, from $300 (woman who works out of her home so doesn't have to pay overhead, didn't use cause she had a family thing come up) to nearly $700 (way over budget).
The florist we're using gave us a quote for $450, including:
bridal & toss bouquet
3BM bouquets
9 buttonieres (we'll only use 4, dads groom and best man)
4 corsages (2 moms 2 grandmas)
altar arrangement
tax
delivery

If it's over budget, keep looking. There's always a way to find someone cheaper. The only pricey one we met with we found online; the other two were word of mouth

My flowers up here in Saskatchewan are $1200, but that is my bouquet, 4 bridesmaids, one flower girl (gets her own mini bouquet), my tossing bouquet, FI, and 19 boutonnieres ( men and immediate family included), then 3 corsages for moms. We are not using flowers for the centerpieces and are not using flowers at the church. Our bouquets are long stemmed sunflowers with cymbidium orchids (Love them!). Our florist is also pretty up scale here too.

$1750 for 10 centerpieces, 4 bridesmaid bouquets, my bouquet, corsages for mom, FMIL, 2 stepmothers, and grandma and boutineers for 6 people, and a flower collar for our puppy flowergirl.

The centerpieces are rented-- manzanita trees with tea lights, crystals, fresh flowers and votive candles scattered around the table.

I'm in NYC. I'm shocked I was able to get this much for the price...

FOB/FOG/grandpa bouts
MOB/MOG corsages

We were given a range of $550-700 depending on how big we want to go. We're using daisies, mums, and circus roses, which puts us at the 550. If we wanted lilies, orchids, etc, it'd be pricier.

We're DIYing centerpieces and our church already has decor. We just need pew bows, which we're DIYing.

I'm paying $550 for my bouquet, four BM bouquets, four bouts, two corsages, a unity candle/alter centerpiece, a memorial clutch of flowers for my mom to leave on a chair, and some leaves for around our cake and down the aisle. Our flowers are a mix of open and spritz roses, mini callas, mini gerbera daisies, mini sunflowers, hypericum berries, and mixed greenery.

I am very simple and am using real touch orchids (bc the ones i want are $95 a stem and i'm using 6-7 stems) with a dozen real calla lilies and a dozen real roses plus something else that i fogot the name of. I am not having attendants so its just my bouquet and a bout for my son and my fiance =$125.

The one quote I've gotten was about 500 for my bouquet 3 bm and toss boquet total of 10 bouts for FI GM my step dad and our gfathers. His Dad is his best man so..plus 6 corsages for moms and gmothers. Some greenery for the church...and that's about it. That quote was using roses miniature roses and stargazer lilies for the boquets.

I can't remember exactly but I think my quote was around $200? All I'm getting is my bouquet, 3 bridesmaids bouquets, and a bunch of corsages/bouts for the groom, GMs, siblings and parents.

I gave my florist my budget of 1000 and of course she got me right to 998.99- which I have already paid for so she better be there with bells on on 10/12/12

I also had to compromise on my dream calla lillies because of costs- she is using some but I wanted them everywhere
