Best/Worst Weekend EVER

So... this weekend was a bit of a rollercoaster!

Highlights:
- My 27th birthday party was on Friday, and my DH and I went out with a bunch of our friends to Pinstripes in Edina for a really awesome dinner and bowling swanky-hipster-style.
- My parents and older sister came into town from WI on Saturday and we went to dinner at Brasa, where the Catering Manager totally remembered everything about us and gave us free cornbread and dessert (they catered our wedding). It was really sweet.

LOWlights (emphasis on the low):
- Saturday morning, before my fam was scheduled to arrive, we had a vet appointment for our dog, Buckley. He had been having some weird skin issues the last couple of months (dry, rashy patches, slight hair loss, and these weird pimple-like bumps) plus he'd been kind of gimpy and whiny the past few days, so we wanted to get him checked out. Apparently, he has hypothyroidism (which is manageable, but not ideal) and possibly Cushings Disease because his liver enzymes are also out-of-whack. This meant a $250 vet bill on Saturday, and at LEAST another $300 worth of treatment if he is positive for Cushings. I'm freaking out, because I love the little guy to pieces and just want him to be healthy. I really hope it is Cushings, and not some other sort of permanent liver damage, because at least they know exactly how to treat Cushings.

- If that weren't bad enough... WHILE Buckley was still at the vet (DH and I drove over separately to get him checked in, and then I left early to go home and clean the apartment before my fam came over...) I got in a freaking car accident for the second time this winter. I went 11 years without so much as a scratch... and am now facing replacing my front bumper for the 2nd time in 4 months. I was on Rowland Rd right near Bryant Lake Park, on my way home, and slid off the road and into a snow bank and light post. I had to file a police report and get towed out. It sucked. My bumper is shattered on one side and my car's barely driveable. I wasn't hurt, and no one else was involved, but I'm hoping there wasn't any damage to the light post... because the city will charge me or more likely my car insurance to fix it. Yay for rate increases! Whee!

So yeah... I'm kind of freaking out... and could use some positive Knottie vibes right about now. I have a busted car and a sick dog and seriously do not have enough extra money OR extra emotional stamina to deal with both at the same time.

In case it helps focus your positive energy, here's a picture of my sweet little sick dude:

Awwwww cutest little poochie ever!!!!!!  Sick dogs make me so sad :(  I am sending my good vibes to Buckley!  And I'm sorry to hear about your accident too - that is the worst.  As soon as your insurance goes up, switch to another company.  Car insurance companies raise your rates to price you out of their service when you get into an accident - I guarantee that you will be able to find a much more reasonable rate at a different company, even with the accident on your record.  Good luck!!

I'm sorry :( Sick pets and car accidents do not a good weekend make. I hope everything turns out okay for you and Buckley! He is a very sweet looking dog. I'm sending good thoughts your way!

Aww I'm so sorry to hear about your little guy!  Feel better Buckley!

So sorry to hear about your car, I got rear ended yesterday myself, nothing major just a scratch.  But I need some part replaced on my car and they quoted me $850, so whatever $$ I get from her to fix my scratch I'll probably just use to pair for my air intake system thing (lol) to be replaced.  Sometimes I hate having a car.

Oh noo what a weekend! I've been in two car accidents in the last two winters so I know how much they suck :( So sorry to hear about your dog too, there's nothing worse than seeing your little guy suffering! He's adooorable though and lucky to have such a good human friend to nurse him back to health! :)

Aww, I know how puppy troubles are.  I've never been an animal person, so I was shocked to see how attached you can get to the little guys.  I hope he gets better soon!

It'll be okay! The great thing is, it sounds like nothing that happened is permanent (hopefully Buckley's liver will be back to normal after treatment). But it still sucks to have to deal with it all at once, especially!

    Vibes to you. Good luck!

Oh, man, what a weekend! Hopefully the puppy is feeling better soon!

P.S. The David Gray show I was trying to sell the tickets for? It sucked.  I was so disappointed.  He was so much better the last 2 times I saw him live.  This concert was all newer stuff and it was realllllly slow.  There were a few people around us sleeping!

    Thanks, ladies.

The car stuff is going to cost a friggin' boatload, but so far everything has been going smoothly. I called my insurance, got it towed to ABRA, and now just have to scrape together money for the deductible. If there's damage to the light post, my insurance will cover up to $10,000... so I don't think I need to worry there.

Still worried about the fuzzy one. I did some reading about Cushings... and it freaks me out. While it is treatable, it's not curable, and the expected life span of a dog after diagnosis is about 2-3 years even WITH flawless treatment. But, I guess I signed up for this when I adopted a stray. I've never known exactly how old he is, so for all I know, 2-3 years may have been what I have left with him anyway.

So, I'll do what I can to treat whatever he has and make him comfy and happy for as long as possible... and DH and I have agreed to take him on as many camping trips as possible this summer (the little guy LOVES camping!)

P.S. Yeah, Steph... I kind of got that vibe when I saw a copy of the set list on FB. I love some of his slower, more melancholy stuff (one of my fave albums of his is Lost Songs, which you could easily cry yourself to sleep with) but some musicians like that don't stop to think what impact it will have on a live audience! I totally had that experience with a Pete Yorn show once.
