[QUOTE]In Response to Re: FFF! : See, and I think it ALWAYS seems gift grabby to only register for items $75 and up. Even if the couple has the money to throw a $20k wedding, that doesn't mean all their family and friends can afford expensive gifts. I just don't correlate the two.

This is what I've been thinking through this whole thing. I'm going to give a small gift no matter what the couple spent on their wedding. And while FI and I are going to register for reasonably priced things, because I don't need $20 napkins when they are available for $2, that doesn't mean I don't also need a nice blender. If you want to buy me a nice blender, I greatly appreciate it, but it won't change the fact that the reception is in a gym.

[QUOTE]My flame goes to my favorite ball of BSC, emricmacy !! This gem with her disagreeing with FI about the guest list, and their wedding is supposedly 2 months away. Ugghh. http://forums.theknot.com/Sites/theknot/Pages/Main.aspx/wedding-boards_invites-paper_fi-doesnt-like-this-idea A general flame goes out to any poster who never returns to say thanks for the advice and/or answer our additional questions. Lame. ETA: a non-TK related flame goes out to my "friend" from college who just univinted all of her college friends to her April wedding because she and FI realized they have 50 less seats than they thought. Oh, this was via a mass Facebook message, too. Klassy.

Even more impressive if you look at the original posters history she is claiming it is called off on the bump or nest

I'd like to flame my whole family. My brother threatening to hurt me because he's not happy with the guest list, my mom and my brother telling me that I'm causing my parents mental health issues because they only have (the originally agreed upon) 1/3 of the guest list which they used up inviting family rather than their friends and they now regret it (even though we're inviting some of their friends out FI/my 1/3 of the list because I knew they'd regret it eventually but apparently 6 friends aren't enough for them), and my whole family for telling me that they will cut ties with me if I don't let them pay for the wedding.

WTF, Friday.
• FFF to my planner for being completely unresponsive and to us for not firing her in fear of her messing things up with our other vendors.
• Cookie, all my hugs and prayers for you.

[QUOTE]I flame whatever jeweler or salesperson that told a poster on NYE that 4,000 to 5,000 budget for her engagement ring was "on the low end". Excuse the hell out of me?!

Shoot. I guess I have to tell FI we did it wrong when he bought a $500 ring I fell in love with.

It took me last night and this morning to read all of the posts! Super busy week back at work after February break, so I've missed all drama this week...

I'm throwing a flame out to the person who was so rude to Addie - you are incredibly helpful and kind!

Flame to all the BSC people who are too self-absorbed to even realize how crazy they are!

And cookie - your dad is plain awful for his posts, but you don't need me to tell you that. Sending you lots of positive thoughts and good juju!

• Cookie, I am so, so sorry. My father is very similar and there have been many, many times when his actions have left me shaking too. I was even starting to shake when reading your father's comments because they reminded me of my own father to the point where it was scary. (It probably didn't help that I found out my own father was pulling a douche move yesterday as well.)

I know that it sucks to be stuck with a parent like that and knowing that half of your genes come from such a manipulative, vindictive person. Even more so when they twist the story so everybody around them thinks that you are the terrible person and that they did nothing wrong. If you ever need to vent about him, feel free.
