Suggestions for alterations?

Does anyone have a suggestion for dress alterations? I purchased my dress from Irena Bridal (thankfully got it before the store closed) but now I need a place for my alterations. I'm in the western suburbs (but I'd be willing to drive for someone great!)

My wedding isn't until June but I'm a planning freak-a-zoid. :)

I am planning on going to Sues alterations in Napervile. Here are her Yelp reviews. http://www.yelp.com/biz/sues-bridal-rental-and-alterations-naperville

    Hi There,
I used Sue's Bridal Alterations in Naperville. She did a Wonderful Job on my gown. She is a perfectionist, very sweet and probably slowing down a bit now.
I really don't think it's too early to get your gown altered, if you can check that off your list during the cold months, that is less you have to do later and Sue is probably slow in January, she is extremely busy lady during the wedding season.

She doesn't have a website, but many great reviews on here, and yahoo.com or google.??

Many here have used her --That is how I found out about her.

She hemmed my gown, did a sweep train bustle (I wanted a sweep so didn't unbustle it) and sewed up the cleavage ....
You can see a bit of the long train that I wanted to get rid of here. She even took these pics...

I stood in the gown for nearly 2 hours while she configured this bustle (sweep train) Every scallop matched, and there were 6 layers to hem and bustle. There were some 15 -20 loops and buttons and it held all night.

Here is the side view pinned but not completed.

she also hemmed the shoulders becasue they were too big, the dress fit like a glove and had the exact shape in the back that I wanted which was a sweep train.....my son walking me down the "isle"

Hi, I'm sorry to be a downer, but I did not add this in my vendor reviews. I just got married Dec. 4th, so this is all recent.

I would like to share my experience with Sue at Sue's Bridal and recommend maybe if you really want to go to her to see her ASAP.

Actually, it was theknot that I heard about her and how good she was I recommended to my friend who got married this past August 2010 to use her for alterations. She did and everything was fine except come the day we pick up the dress, a few days before her wedding, and my friend did not try it on. Bad mistake. Sue did not sew the pockets of the dress like she was supposed to and did not cut all the threads hanging from the dress where she did all the sewing. I blamed not Sue, b/c my friend should have inspected before she took it home with her, but still.

Now, it's come time for my wedding and I brought my dress to Sue too in November and Sue would not help me. She said that her doctor recommend that she not take on so much work and since it was around the holidays she did not want to take my dress and is planning to cut back on business next year by 75%!

So, she is only planning on doing 1/4 of work she did this year.

I was horrified b/c I only had a month before my wedding and now I did not know who to turn too! Ended up back at Davids Bridal......

Long story short, if you want her to do your dress see her now or she may turn you away. I'm not saying she's a bad person and I totally get where she's coming from, but it still made me sad. I'm just being honest.

I used Mary Catomy who was great and a fraction of the cost of what I was going to get charged elsewhere.  However, she books up really fast so I would contact her asap!

Also, some of my friends have used alterations from Kasia's Bridal (I believe it's on the north side of the city).  The mother of the owner is very knowledgeable  about altherations.  I'm not sure about pricing though, but I don't think it was anything crazy.

I used Cori with Stitch of Bliss.  She's awesome and actually comes to you for alterations, so it's super convenient.  www.stitchofbliss.com
