Burton Manor

Hello,
My Fiance and I are trying to decide between two places for our reception, Stone Creek in Flat Rock or Burton Manor in Livonia. I know there is distnace between the two but his family is closer to downriver and mine is closer to Livonia so one of our familes is going to have to travel a little further than the ohter. We have been to a few weddings at Stone Creek and I love it, but have never been to Burton Manor. Has anyone worked with them, or been there that can help me??? Thank  you

I've been to a couple weddings there. And a couple ladies (Booger+Bear, Mandanydreams) booked Burton Manor. The few times I've been, I was not at all impressed. My MOH was in a wedding and the reception was there on the hottest day of the year last year and the a/c went out. They didn't have any backup generators for emergencies such as that, so alot of people were miserably hot.

From my own personal experience, I don't think they did a good job with figuring out how much food to have for 150 people. We were the last table to eat and had something completely different than everyone else. They had to bring in leftovers from one of the other weddings that were going on. The food was not very hot by the time we got it because it had been sitting in another hall for other guests. Had it been warm, the food would have been great. That could have been avoided had the hall prepared enough food for everyone. I think they were about 50 people short of the dinner. Meaning 50 people did not get what the other 100 people got.

In all, the rooms are very nice and the bathrooms were clean. They have nice outdoor patios as well. I know in both cases where there were mishaps, the bride and groom received some kind of refund for the problems that were endured.

I don't think my experience should sway your decision because I know there have been a ton of weddings there and nothing went wrong. It just so happens I had a bad experience and so did my friend.

I am using them for my wedding in 3 weeks, we also had our shower there. Thus far we have been pleased, their prices are reasonable, the food was good at the tasting and shower, the rooms are nice and they are friendly and have been nice to work with. I know one other knottie is using them too.

Where is your ceremony or are you having it on site? Personally, I would pick the place closest to the ceremony to limit the amount of driving that day.

I'd have to go with Corinne w/ Buron Manor.  I've been to a couple weddings there, as well a a prom about a decade ago.  All of the times I've been there, I have been quite unimpressed.

Did you check out Laurel Manor in Livonia....Its beautiful...I booked them for my reception. They have a really nice staircase and baby piano you can take pics by. There food is also really good.   I'm not sure what price range you have but its a bit pricey. I'm paying $66 pp

In Livonia, I would also check out St. Mary's Cultural Center.  I went to a wedding there and it was gorgeous -- in fact, we ultimately decided between there and our ultimate venue (Meeting House in Livonia).  If I remember right, you can bring in your own liquor which helps bring down costs usually.
