DJ and Lighting

Hey, I kinda mentioned this in an old thread but I think it drowned in the posts somewhere, lol.

I'm wondering that if I hire a DJ/Emcee-- let's say we get Melody for the six or seven she is going for:

does that include "uplighting" that I hear everyone talking about? Or is that just dance lighting? Or is this extra? Do DJs even do uplighting? And what kind of lighting are they talking about?

Does that include her bringing in the speakers and equipment?

if I'm using a string quartet for the ceremony, who do I get to provide mics for the ceremony? and to be honest, I don't really want mics-- is there a way to just amplify our voices? I hate the idea of our booming voices coming out of a speaker for the relatively small ceremony. Could we get our DJ to do that?
Disclaimer: Please excuse the above comment. I'm probably freaking out because there is less than one month to go. Thank you.

Our DJ Blair with Party All the Time Productions is doing our DJ and lighting.  We have a steel drum duo for the ceremony, but Blair will be providing wireless mics on the groom and minister and then another mic for the readers since it will be outdoors.

Our lighting includes uplighting and pinspotting all the tables/centerpieces and the cake.

When I was looking for a DJ, I found that there are some that will do the lighting themselves, and others that will work with a lighting company.

Uplighting is extra (although it may be built into a package).  With our DJ, it was out of our budget.  He provided uplighting (the lighting around the perimeter of your ballroom or venue) as well as pinspotting (which is lighting a specific area like the cake).  You can also do a spotlight for the first dance.  His cost included all of his equipment and set up.

Our DJ provided mics for our officiants.  We had a string trio for the ceremony but as far as I know they did not use microphones.  We could all hear them fine.

I really wanted a wireless mic for our officiant but he preferred the handheld.  I was really worried about it being cheesy but it wasn't.

We had both our DJ (Richard) and lighting through A Very Special Day...they were so easy to work with and will work within your budget. The DJ and lighting costs were separate but we did get a deal through one of the bridal shows for some free uplighting. We added additional lighting and were able to customize according to price and need.
