  I was in your same situation! I ended up buying my dress at Castronovo's on North Main St. The shop has construction going on in the front, but they are definitely still open (I'm going there to pick up my dress for my June 12th wedding this Saturday!). I got a great price on my dress ( $600) and absolutely love it!  The only slight negative is that you cannot browse through the wedding dresses yourself, but the staff does a great job in assessing the look or style you are going for and give you lots of options. My bridal consultant was Laura and she is absolutely fabulous! . I highly recommend!

  I personally hate Castronovo's.  They dyed my mom's shoes for my first wedding and they did such an awful job.  They didn't finish them until the day before the wedding, the color was WAY off.   I hate them and I wouldn't spit on the building if it was on fire.
  
  If you're looking for a budget dress, check out Great Hangups, it's on Charles St.  It's a resale shop with a decent selection and their prices are great.  There's another resale shop in either Rockton or Roscoe (slightly north of Rockford) called Blush Bridals. 
   
  If you don't want a resale shop, there's a new outlet store called Brandi's Bridal Galleria, it's in Cherry Valley right outside the mall.  
  
  Then of course, there's Davids Bridal. 
  
  There's not really a ton of bridal salons in Rockford.  
  If you wanna go a little north, there's a place in Clinton WI that my cousin bought her dress at, she said their prices were good and they had great customer service.  It's called Veils N Tails, I think their website is russairs.com.

  Scarlet, that stinks you had a bad experience.  I didn't have any shoes dyed so I can't comment on that, but my dress was perfect and I had a great experience.
