Escort Cards:1 per person or per couple?

This might be a silly question but are you supposed to have one escort card per person or one per couple? If its per person, what about kids? Obviously they are sititng with their parents but would they get an excort card too? We are having assigned tables, but not specific seats at the table. Thanks ladies!!

  • We did one for every person, including kids. We had 2 babies there but didn't make them for them.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I think that you should do one per person. When I was a kid at family weddings they lumped all the kids together at a table and the parents at the table beside us. If we didn't have our own cards then the seating would have been screwed up. Also as a kid I thought having my own escort card was awesome, so it wouldn't hurt to make the kids feel special.

  • I think the big question is how many guests do you have?  I'm looking at 175 guests, so 1 per person is a LOT of escort cards.  What I'm doing is one per couple if they have the same last name.  Kids are getting their own (unless it's a baby).  I'm also doing one per person if there are different last names.  This makes it easier to alphabatize (I don't even want to go there in terms of who's name goes first on an escort card).
  • We did one per couple. I've never actually seen one per person, that's a lot of cards. Place cards, if you're assigning a specific seat, should be per person, but escort cards are fine to be per couple/family.

  • Thanks everyone! We are expecting about 180 guests, we don't know for sure yet because the replies just started coming in. You're right, it does makes more sense to do one per couple because of the amount of people. My venue would probably appreciate not having to set out that many escort cards too haha.

  • We did one per person because we also indicated each guest's meal choice on his or her card. We had about 165 cards. It took me a couple of hours to write them all out and put on the stickers indicating meal choice. Two of my BMs set them out in about 15 minutes on the wedding day.
  • Libby - was it easy for you to figure out what each person wanted?  Since RSVP card go out to the couple, I would think I would have to call 99% of my guests to find out which meal John wants to eat vs. Jane.  That's the other reason that I decided to do 1 card per couple - to minimize this headache.  I may even re-think having separate cards for different last names if this turns into such a headache.  We'll see what happens when I get my responses I guess.
