No idea on style. Style of event style of dress? What do I want?

I need help!! I'm am totally lost as to what I want to do for my wedding. Is there a questioneer or something that would help me see what I want? I like the idea of elegant but I'm not an elegant girl, Im more casual and laid back. I've looked through pictures and pictures and I like a lot but nothing fits me. Does anyone else have this problem? Whats the best way to handle this?

The biggest problem I've come across is I'm hating wedding dresses. I think they are beautiful, and I have tried some on that I like, but I'm not IN LOVE. I am a wedding photographer so I have shot SO many brides and dresses and it feels like everytime I look at a dress, I feel like I've seen it or shot it before. I'm actually starting on leaning towards a black dress. But the issue I see with that is I would want it to be more along the lines of fashion reason not goth, but I'm not a high fashion person either. *sigh*

Does anyone have ANY suggestions please?

My advice is, go try some dresses on.  You will never really know what you like until it is actually ON your body.  You will learn better about styles, cuts, bling or no bling, and if you want to add some color.  I had dozens of pictures of the PERFECT dress.  That dress looked horrible on me.

Make an appointment at a salon, and see what happens.  that will help you narrow stuff down.

All of this. Just make an appointment and go try on dresses.

  • Do you know what style wedding you want or what your venue is?  Those answers may help you decide if you want a casual or formal style dress.

In general, I don't have a problem with different color wedding dresses.  However, don't decide to wear a black dress just because you are so used to seeing white dresses in your line of work.  You will likely end up looking back on your wedding photos and wondering "what was I thinking".
  • Repeat after me: "I do not have to wear a wedding dress to get married."

Now, that's not necessarily a popular opinion, but it is, absolutely, liberating.  Once you settle on the style of the event, go shopping.  Make appointments with personal shoppers and see what happens.

    Good luck!
