Book Recommendations?

Re: Book Recommendations?

  • The Help by Kathryn Stockett was good; I read it over vacation.

I'm just starting A Reliable Wife and have been meaning to get The Story of Edgar Sawtelle.
  •  If you like history, I just finished The Alexandria Link, by Steve Berry, which was fantastic. I also enjoyed The Historian, The Time Traveler's Wife and any historical fiction (not necessarily romance) like Harold The King or The Constant Princess.

I have read A Great & Terrible Beauty and the second one (can't remember the name!) and was hoping there was a third one. I should request my local library to get a copy of it!

  • Jodi Picoult is my favorite author lately. I recommend any of her books, but particularly Nineteen Minutes (story about a school shooting, told from the shooter's point of view) and House Rules (story about an autistic boy accused of murder). They were awesome and are my favorites by her.

My other favorite by her is The Pact. It says it's a "love story" but I really didn't think it was. It's about a teenage boy accused of killing his girlfriend.

Her books are real page turners and have lots of twists in them.
  • Thanks for all the books!  I have read some of them and I have also read most of the classics.  I was an English Lit major.  I love Jane Austin!  I have read all of her books.  I do like Russian Lit, even though it is dark.  I am unemployed right now, so I have lots of free time to read.  Right now, it's a biography of Isabella de' Medici and the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
