I really like 24 but it's the only gym I've ever joined.  They have a wide variety of classes which is what I love.

Well, honestly, I've been really spoiled by the YMCA in Nashville. It was recently renovated, they had tv screens on all the cardio machines, and they had a cardio cinema room, which was my favorite thing ever. 24 hour has a special right now that would make all-club access $10/month cheaper than one-club access at LifeTime. I like to take 2-3 classes a week, so that's important to me. I should probably just compare the class schedules.

I just went to check the Planet Fitness website since I'm thinking of cancelling my LA Fitness membership. They have this on their front page: "Pizza Nights (the first Monday of every month) We go through 3000 pizzas. That's 24000 slices per year!".......kind of bizarre for a fitness club!

Cheryl, I thought it was weird too. They also have bagels in the mornings on the first or second (can't remember) Tuesday of every month.

They don't have classes or anything, but I never went to them at 24hour anyway. They just have weights and cardio machines which is all I need.

They market to the non 'meat-head' (for lack of a better word) workout LOL

Cheryl - seriously though, if you want to check it out sometime before cancelling your other one, let me know. I can bring a guest for free.

Thanks everyone for the pay-as-you-go idea.  That sounds like something that would work better for everyone.

    Glad you're back, Bananna!

I thought that was funny, too! It looks like a cool place, just a little farther than I want to drive and I'd miss the classes. But $10/month is awesome!

Thanks, Steph! I got the biggest grin on my face when we drove across the Texas border

Nae-- I will definitely let you know if I want to check it out. Thanks for the offer! I'm not sure about the no-class thing. I mainly take classes at the gym (when I actually go...which is never these days.) I'm the type of person who needs my mind distracted by something to workout. In the cases of classes, that would be trying to keep up with the instructor.

I pay $54 a year at 24 Hour Fitness so it has worked out good for me.  The way I got that rate though is I signed a 3 year contract back in 1999 and paid about $650.00 for three years and then after that, my yearly payments have continued to go lower and lower.  My husband was on a month per month basis at 24 Hr and I don't think the rate is that good at $32.95 a month so I cancelled him after 4 months because he went 2 times.  He decided that he just HAD to have a SolarFlex.  Remember those?  He got a used one for $150, cleaned it up, painted it, new weight straps, has been using it religiously and has freaking lost 7 lbs in 2 weeks.  I can't win, lol.

I had a headache the entire time I was at work today. I never get headaches and I have been getting them at least once a week the last few. I don't know if it has anything to do with stress or anything like that.

Waking up at 6 am and driving 45+ mins is not cool. I can't wait til my shift time finally kicks in and I don't have to be at work until 11 am.
