Registry and Gift Forum

Registered! But for next time...

FI and I finally registered for wedding gifts! Yay! But it was exhausting. BBB is so big that it's overwhelming. I wish we would have made an actual list of things we definitely needed and wanted before we went. But we still can because we only got through half of the store :

Re: Registered! But for next time...

  • Do yourself a favor and also spend some time looking at reviews online of some of your more expensive items.  BBB is very hit or miss in terms of quality and you don't want that $100 coffee pot breaking a year from now.

  • We spent maybe an hour in-store registering for stuff we liked.  In the weeks following, we spent a lot of time online adding, deleting, changing quantities, etc.   Also, the in-store consultants can be VERY overbearing.

  • We ended up selecting almost everything online.  We wanted to be in store to touch and feel a few things, like china and dishes, but for things like china and appliances, it was much easier to do online where we could read reviews and really compare.

It also helped us stay organized, because we could do a few items at a time, and go back and add and delete.

[QUOTE]We did a walk through of each store to decide what we liked and wanted about a week before we registered.  If we then disagreed on something we could talk about it at home more thoroughly in private.  Doing this made it way less stressful when we were there actually creating our registries.

<div>Thank goodness the items that we'd already talked about were the big ticket items - like our stand mixer and such.</div>

[QUOTE]We added most of our stuff online because the registry consultant was a pest.

</div><div>Really? Thank goodness for ours. We had our eyes on two different sets of flatware. It's a good thing our consultant was there. She told us that one of the sets was only coated with a certain finish and that it would start to chip away within six months. We were leaning towards that set until she told us.</div>
