  Yes, that can be easily altered. They take the dress in at the side seams, not on the corset.   You will be fine. Just make sure you go to a good seamstress.  Get recommendations, look on yelp, etc.

  Oh yes, that's pretty easy for them to do. I know that when you have a dress with a different back that needs to be altered, they generally make the back into a corset because they can do alterations much easier with it.
  
  Where did you get your dress? I got mine at David's Bridal and just used their seamstress. Other than one small issue with me wanting the hem slightly higher than where she originally put it, everything else went fine. The dress now looks like it was sewn to fit my body.
  
  I know some people have had horrible experiences using the seamstresses at the shops they buy their dress, and I know that sometimes the prices are ridiculous, but when it came to my dress I just felt that they probably have done an alteration on this dress for another bride, or something similar and were familiar with the style and how it should lay.

  To answer your question, I live in Toronto, and I purchased my dress at a shop that sells Maggie Sottero dresses! According to the reviews I've read about their alterations department, they seem to do a good job!

  My dress is a corset and she told me that when I go in for my second fitting that the sides will be completely cut open to allow for her to get a correct fit. She's an amazing seamstress and so I'm sure it will be fine
