Did you regret NOT having a videographer?

My FH and I really don't care to have a videographer for various reasons but my mom and FSIL have been making me feel like I should hire one :-\.  I'd like to hear some opinions of you girls about having vs. not having one.  Thank youuu :)

I didn't have one and I do regret it.  I would love to watch my ceremony again and knowing that I never can is hard to live with.

Well, if it's any consolation, most girls that don't have one don't regret it.  It was for a push for us too budget-wise but I had considered just doing the ceremony and now I wish I would have.

Maybe see if a friend or relative would be willing to capture just the ceremony for you if that is an option.

Thats a good idea.  I'm sure certain people will have their cameras anyway. Thanks Stephie :)

I can't imagine my wedding not being recorded. We are having my moms, uncles, and grandpas camera around, but no one professional.

Similar thread a few days back.   I think you can pick a vendor and shape it so you don't need all the bells & whistles but still do have the key elemnts captured, and fit it in your budget.  As long as it doesn't break the bank, I would always err on the side of caution (eg, having a video) if I had the choice to make a thousand times over.

We weren't originally planning on a videographer, it wasn't in the budget. But decided to get one especially since my fiance's grandmother will not be able to make it to the wedding. She is 92 and has a hard time getting around.. it would be too much for her. So we really wanted her to be able to see the day. I found a wide range of prices and quality... from around $700 - $3000.... I chose someone who was about $950 for the day ceremony thru all the important reception parts. (The $700 seemed like a great deal but the quality on her website was not great) As far as paying for it, I had cut back on favors and my future in laws offered to pay for the JP. So it was only about $300 more to come up with. Now that the wedding is only a few weeks away I am very happy we decided to do it!!

I guess I'll be the odd man out and say that I didn't have a videographer, and I don't regret it.  (We have only been married for 6 weeks, so I guess I haven't regretted it yet, haha!)  Still pictures were just so much more important to me, and I think I'll get so much more use out of those.  I just can't really imagine sitting around and watching the video again.  To be honest, I think a video would bug me, because I think I'd nitpick it too much - how I was standing funny, or in our case, how the officiant screwed up a whole bunch of the ceremony.  It'd probably just frustrate me a ton.  The pictures do plenty of justice to the day, I don't think that the extra cost would have been worth it for me.

@ilneige, thats exactly how i'm feeling.  whats important to us are the pictures.  we are not camera-shy in any way but i also feel as if i dont reallyyyy want to see myself hunching, or having a weird face or something.  as long as we have the pictures, i'm sure are own memories will supplement for the videos.  thanks for the reassurance :)

Will not have a videographer, do not think I will regret it. I snipped the videography just to have better photography, photos are soooooo important to me. I am not and NO one else will sit around and watch  my wedding again. If someone else decided that would be their wedding gift to us.. GREAT.. if not, eh. Oh well, lol

I wasn't going to have one. It's really not in our budget, but I don't want to regret it later. So I've decided to hire some students/aspiring videographers to shoot instead for cheap or even for free. There are lots of film students out there that need the experience and portfolio matierial. You'd be suprised the responses you'll get if you just put an ad on craigslist or where ever. I let them know that I needed someone for cheap or even free. They could get free food out of it! I've hade several responses so far so I'm hoping to pick someone soon.
That being said I wouldn't completely depend on this person. No contract, no pay equal and possible no show. But like I said, it's not in my budget and this is my only chance to get a video. I'll take what I can get. I've had someone offer to do it with HD equipment as long as they could use the footage for their website, promotions, videos, or whatever.
You never know, you could get a good deal!
