Hi. I am 28 and getting married for the first time in mid-December. My fiancé and I are on an extremely tight budget. My parents are helping but being the third daughter married, the wedding funds well has run dry. It's ok because my FH and I want a simple casual/pretty wedding. I have read that a reception should reflect the couple. Well, being quite boring people, it was a struggle to create something interesting for the guests and special to us. We love to read and curl up on the couch to watch movies and play games. If money were not object we would be married in a mountain lodge with a fireplace and snow all around.
So I thought a reception with the theme "A Cozy Winter Night."
My ideas include:
Serving warm drinks like cider cocoa and having little things like marshmallows, red hots, and other things for the drinks.
A grooms cake in the shape of antique books.
Giving them the drink mugs as the wedding favors.
Serving cookies.
It's an evening wedding so does that mean I need to serve a meal? I have no idea. I'm such a fish out of water when it comes to the wedding details.
If so, I am trying to think of comfort food for cold days such as soups/stews but that might be too tacky.
My colors are dark pink and purple with touches of gold.
Any comments are more than welcome. I will not be offended by
any criticisms. Also, if you have any suggestions on how to make it more wedding and less boring I would be absolutely appreciative.
Thank you.
