tanning salons

does anyone go tanning or plan on going/have gone for their wedding? My wedding is 2 weeks from Saturday at the beach and I'm pasty white.  I'd like to do spray tan a few times.  Does anyone have a place they can recommend (preferably in the Clearwater area) and how much they charge for spray tan? thanks.

If you want to do the spray tan thing, which I would recommend because if you are as pasty white as I am, you would burn after 5 minutes.  Hollywood Tan has a great spray called Airbrush.  It's the same stuff they use in their spray-on tanning booths and it comes in aeresol so you can reach the middle of your back, no prob.  I've used it plenty of times and it's a great color.  I'm going to use it before my engagement pictures next weekend.

Learn from my lessons on this:  1) Do this is the bathtub or you will hit the floor and walls.  2) Put on gloves while you spray tan and rub it in just a little where it has started to drip.  You can always spray the back of your hands after you finish your body.  As long as you rub in the drips, you will not streak.  3)  For your face, use a makeup sponge.  Spray it on the sponge first before putting it on your face.

I have used the spray booths before but we are in Tampa.  Are you looking for a location in Tampa?

I will also mention that if you are doing spray you want to do it around 1 week before this will help the color settle and you won't look so orange.

I used to use SOHO Tanning (813) 258-2826 and I currently use a place up in New Tampa. I've been doing it for the past month so I can build up my tan before the wedding.

My recommendation would be to start asap but not to tan too long your first few visits so you can build a base tan and not get burnt.

    Good luck!

Hey there...I've been tanning at Hyde Park Tan Lounge on the corner of Cleveland and Howard in South Tampa.  They also offer spray tanning.  Here is their website: www.tan-lounge.com

I agree with PP, make sure you get it done at least 1 week out so that you don't look too orange.

I second the Hyde Park Tan Lounge although I have never done the spray tan. My girlfriend is a bucs cheerleader and they have to get the spray tans before the games and she told me she would not advise to get it done for the wedding because it rubs off. The last thing I would want is my tan to rub off on my white dress. But like I said before I have never done a spray tan so I am not sure if it truely does rub off. Also she does not use that tanning salon so maybe it depends on the actual spray product the salon uses.

Ive been tanning in the tanning bed since last week. I gave myself a month before the wedding to get a base tan because I am very white too! I can definitely tell a difference and its been a little over a week. I am normally against tanning but desperate times call for desperate measures : )

Tantric Studios on Roosevelt & 9th (in the Publix center)
www.tantricstudios.com - they have the traditional tanning beds and they do custom airbrush tanning.  The place is immaculate and the people are so nice.  If you decide to go the spray route- do it soon so that it will be able to fade naturally.

    Good luck!

I have done the spray tan many times...especially when I need it last minute and it has never rubbed off.  The only issue that I had was that the day I got it done I wore a white bra and it was damaged because I was a little wet when I got dressed.  But after 2 days I wore my white undergarments like normal and there was NO discoloring going on or damaging the garments.

    HTH!!

thanks ladies for all the suggestions.  I have a free pass to Planet Beach so worst case scenario I'll check them out.  I'm really against the tanning beds (for obvious reasons) and I would prefer to use spray.
