dj rates average?

I will not pay this!
The rate would be $1395 for up to six hours of performance, including cocktails, dinner and dance sets. There would also be a $400 travel fee and you would need to provide a hotel room for the night of This rate includes all the setup time and 2 pre-event meetings with your DJ.  There may be additional charges depending on your needs:

• If you need us to DJ your ceremony, it would be an additional $100. The fee is for the setup and execution of the ceremony and one microphone and stand for the officiant.
• If your event exceeds 6 hours, the overtime rate is $100/half-hour.
• An assistant DJ is $100 and is required if 1) your venue requires the DJ to load in up or down stairs and there isn't an elevator, or 2) your final guest count exceeds 250. If you have this many people or more, it might advisable to add extra speakers. This can be discussed with your DJ.
• If there is a need for additional speakers, they are $75 each.
• We do not offer projectors and screens or lighting packages of any kind.
• All rates and pricing goes through me and the Toast & Jam office;  DJs are not able to negotiate rates.

Re: dj rates average?

  • oh no!! one dj gave us a rate of 1200.. i quickly crossed them off my list.  The dj we are using is amazing for one, he sent us his RESUME..  i was impressed.  He  knew right off the bat that he had to prove himself to us and not the other way around.  and when we met him, he was great. very relaxed and assured me that it is our day and all about us.  AND he is only 450.

  • That's not normal. Esp for what they are offering, which isnt much. Our DJ is doing, ceremony, cocktails hour, reception, set up, meetings, his largest lighting package (he doesnt have a whole lot)for like $595. We an alsoadd party favors and effects ike a hazer .We are gonna add an aditional hour for another $100. IMHO, I would keep my options open. Unless its in your budget and you just have to have him.

  • Our DJ/MC was $600 for 5 hours.

That price seems a bit high, I would keep looking.
  • Ours is around $700.  It's NO way we would pay what that particular dj  quoted.  One- it's too darn expensive, Two- it's too darn expensive...lol

  • Nope! They are just lining the pockets! Our DJ is $950 and includes ceremony, cocktail hour and the whole reception for a total of about 7 hours. Not bad considering it is in Orlando.  Plus that includes venue visits, planning meeting, DJ and MC plus their staff coordinator to all be on site the day of.

  • Forgwt the price I wouldn't book him because his email sounds rude and obnoxious. Honestly I think the price depends on your area. In south Fl that is pretty average for a DJ. HOWEVER their packages tend to include a lot more than that and usually you can get some type of bridal show special. I would keep looking.

  • That sounds like an awful lot of money for a DJ. I would get some referrals.

  • Not sure what area you are looking in, but it is a really high price.  My dj is $600 and includes ceremony, cocktail hour and reception for six hours (set up and breakdown is included in this price).  You should probably look for a local dj to reduce that price, and so you can eliminate the travel and hotel fees.
  • I found a couple one is 695 unlimited and the other is 725.00 unlimited hours so i just gotta get some references. wedding is in fort wayne indiana and th dj was in chicago which is where we live now!
