Como Park Conservatory Logistics - Help!

Hello,

I am having my wedding ceremony and reception at Como Park Conservatory in mid October. We loved the venue the second we saw it but are running into issues with the logistics of the ceremony and reception. We want to do it in the same space (long rectangular room next to the reflecting pool), but Como is saying that they do not have enough time to flip the room while we have our cocktail hour. Their option is to have the ceremony set up with the reception tables and chairs!

Even more issues are layered on as there is another wedding reception in the upstairs room, and I do not want people from that wedding coming through the doors while we have our ceremony.

I'm not sure where to go with this one...one of the main reasons we picked the venue was so we could do both ceremony and reception there. There is another option to do the wedding outdoors, but I'm not too sure how I feel about that as we all know Minnesota weather!

Wondering if anyone has ever had this kind of expereince before and how they approached it.

Help!

Not much help since we only had our ceremony there, but do you have the option to use one of the gardens for your ceremony and then recess to the Reception area?  I know it isn't using the same space but it'd be the same building.  I'm not sure which room you're referring to for your space - are you talking about the concourse between the visitor center main door and the conservatory??

It is a cool venue, but logistically it is a mess. Are you talking about the hallway that connects the zoo entrance to the conservatory?  It's really not a 'room'....it's a walkway.  My friend got married there a few years ago and didn't consider that the whole zoo is open to the public until 6pm, so anyone can be walking through until then.  The set up for the reception was tricky enough, sorry but I would have your ceremony somewhere else.

You could see if they can put up some sort of backdrop or something so that you can't see the guests coming in from the other wedding. But, personally, I wouldn't want my ceremony guests to be seated at their reception tables. I passed on venues that would have required that.
