They'd go off the deep end, probably pull the money they're helping with the wedding (I know, I know) and my grandma would probably stress out and wind up back in the hospital. That's what I'm really worried about. Everything else I could deal with.
Musu, we do the opposite. I sleep in the basement with him until about half-way through the night then I go up to my bed. It sucks because FI normally doesn't get much sleep after I leave.
So your parents don't notice that you start the night asleep together? I guess we were lucky that the rooms they had for us to sleep in were both in the basement and they slept upstairs, so they really had no way to enforce it, lol.
I think part of it is just a "this is our house, our rules" thing. But I guess when I have adult children, I probably won't push those rules because I know if they are anything like me, they won't listen anyway at that point.

H and I have never spent the night at my parents' house.
On a road trip the summer before last, he, my mom and I drove to NM to visit my brother. My mom paid for the whole thing, but she made sure he and I had a room together.

Since I lived at my parents house for a year during J and I's dating relationship, we didn't have much of a choice. Thankfully I had a lock on my door.

I don't know honestly. I guess they just assume that I'm watching TV or something with him until I actually go to bed. It really doesn't make sense.
Plus, when we go to my aunt's house for New Years Eve (huge party) and spend the night, they let us sleep in the same bed. air matress, whatever, so they don't look bad to their friends and family. It's really annoying.
I've considered moving in with a friend but I'm not sure how well that would work either. Too much wedding crap at the house I need access to.
My MIL used to make H and I sleep in separate rooms, before we moved in together. Then one night my stupid FIL came home while H was in the bathroom and took his spot on the couch. My IL's are estranged and FIL sleeps on the couch when he's home. H gave up, went into his bedroom (where I was sleeping) and got into bed with me. The next morning he argued with MIL that he had to go to work for a 9-hour shift and he needed sleep, and it wasn't his fault that FIL randomly came home and took his spot. MIL never made us sleep apart after that.
My parents stopped with the whole "separate rooms" thing after we moved in together. I guess they figured stopping us from sinning was a ship that had already sailed.
Yeah I'd lived with 3 guys prior to living with J. All were just friends but the male aspect of a roommate had already occurred. My parents didn't care anyway so I guess I am lucky in that respect.
Before we were married Ben and I weren't allowed to sleep together at my parent's place or his parent's. Neither one of us really minded, though. It wasn't really a "thing" or like, a big deal. I am pretty sure they all knew the jig was up, even though we didn't live together, but I felt like it was more of a respect thing, maybe? I dunno. it never bothered me. I was on my own and doing whatever I wanted in my life away from their homes. I could sleep in a different bedroom than Ben for a night or two.
I think if J and I weren't in a LDR it would not have bothered us much. But if we visited for a weekend and that weekend ended up at his parents, it sucked to not be able to sleep in the same place so we just did it anyway.
My parents offered to pay all the rent if H moved in with me because they were already paying mine while I was in school, and it was silly for H to pay to live somewhere else. So, yeah, my parents obviously did not care that we moved in together.
Also, I think it was a bigger deal for my parents (read: mom) than it was for mine. Each of Ben's sisters lived with boyfriends before their weddings. His parents preferred otherwise, but figured hey, they're adults. For me, I'm pretty sure my parents would have refused to pay for parts of our wedding if I'd moved in with him before, lol.
I think the only person who was unhappy we were living together was H's grandma, and it wasn't anything major. She just would have preferred it didn't happen.
