What's your day-of beauty schedule?

I'm worried about giving enough time for everything so wondering what time everyone else has scheduled for themselves.  Please mention if it is on-site or off-site (which then please include travel time) and what you are having done since some things take longer.

I'll either be doing my own hair or find a salon within 10 minutes to do my hair (down with a headband but not sure beyond that) and my make up is getting done on site.  Anyone in a simialr situation would be extra helpful but everything gives me perspective

  • 8 am: wake-up
    8:30: breakfast
    9: shower
    10: bride's hair (on-site professional)
    11:15:  bride's makeup (on-site DIY)
    11:45:  lunch
    12:30 pm: photographers arrive
    1:  First look
    1 - 3:30:  Pictures
3:30:  back in room to freshen up
    4pm:  ceremony

In between: trying to call mom to find out if she picked up my flowers.  Try to find slip for my sister who burned a hole in her BM dress.  Call MIL to find out when she'd arrive to have her hair done.  Keep neices from touching my dress.  Check the weather to see if it was going to warm up.  Etc....
    Anniversary
  • Myself, my mother, and my MOH are all having our hair and makeup and two BMs just hair done at a salon approx. 45 mins from the ceremony site. Here's the schedule we have set:

BM 1: 1:30-2:15 Hair - Do own makeup while waiting.
BM 2: 12:45-1:15 Hair - Do own makeup after, finish by 2:30
    2:30-3:15 Drive to venue
    3:15-4:00 Dress and relax
4:00-5:15 Some formal pics, first look!
5:15-6:00 Relax, fix everything that has gone wrong

  • I would allot about 1.5 hours for yourself for hair and makeup.  Be sure to have a trial session with your makeup and hairstylist before the day of so there are no disasters!!
Also, I would highly sugest putting yourself either first on the list or somewhere in the middle.  To me, I thought I would get done last to allow time to sleep in and get other things done but realized if everyone else is runing behind schedule I'm in trouble.  Also it would be smart to go over with the other girls what they want to do with their hair to get a feel for how long it wil take, I would say the more time the better.  If you are getting the girls makeup done, remember you can always forgo it or have them do something super simple and quick if things are running behind
    Good luck

  • My ceremony is at 3 pm so I plan on getting my hair and makeup done early. Probably around 9 or 10. It is a 30 mins away.

  • i like the person who posted wake up at 8. Will any of us really get any sleep the night before?!
  • We're starting to get ready at 9 and hopefully will be done by 12:30.  That's 5 girls getting hair and makeup.  I'm a little worried but how much earlier can I really wake up?  There will be more than 1 hairstylests and hopefully we can do makeup at the same time.

  • I am also having a daytime wedding (ceremony is at 12:00; the reception immediately follows) and am trying to figure out how to fit hair and makeup for me and my bridal party in as well as time to take some photos when guests will be arriving around 11:30 am.  Right now, I feel like I'm trying to achieve the impossible.  Anyone else have /had an afternoon wedding with advice to share?  Thanks!
  • These are some great ideas!

  • I am having a 10am ceremony with reception 12-5, too.  I plan on starting to get ready at 6am with all my girls so we're done by 9am...praying that is enough time for everyone to get hair and makeup done!
  • I'm also having a day time wedding (ceremony at 11:30, reception immediately following) AND we're doing first look/other pictures before the wedding (starting around 9:30am).  I figure we need to leave around 9am to get to the church on time and give me time to slip into my dress.
The hairstylist is arriving at my hotel at 7am (for me, 2 BM, and my mom) and it's DIY make-up.  I've been practicing my make-up to get the application time down to under 30 minutes and my hair will take 45 min max.  I think I'll either go first or second on the hair and mom can go last since she doesn't need to be out the door right at 9am.

It will be an early day (5:30-6am) but I'm guessing I'll be too excited to sleep much the night before anyway!
  • that's exactly what I am doing! it was cheaper for us at our venue to have the wedding in the day time, and our wedding is small (75 total) so we didn't have much choices for places that cater to small weddings. But we love it. Hope everything goes well for you!

  • I am so worried about getting everything done the day of... working backwards is something that sounds like I can do.  Also, having schedules by different people sounds like something that I need to do... thanks for the post!
  • I would say think about the time it normally takes you to get ready for new years eve, or something else special you get ready for, and then add in time in for looking even better that day then you ever have before, for emotional moments with your room full of ladies, relaxation, a glass of wine, and answering questions if you dont have a wedding coordinator.  If you're like me and get frustrated super easy pad your schedule with a half an hour at least so that you don't start panicking that you're running late.  It also depends on the dress.  If you need to be bussled, allow about 20 minutes, especially if someone inexperienced is doing the bussling.  Or even better yet, make sure whoever your bussler will be talks to your dress maker about what to do.

  • Friday morning - mani/pedis (part of my gift to my 5 bridesmaids)
Friday night - staying in the bridal suite with the bridesmaids (and we can drop all of our stuff off before the rehearsal dinner)

    Saturday morning
    7 am - breakfast
8 am - make-up artist (gift from bridesmaid) & hair stylist (gift from SIL) arrive at bridal suite
Noon - party sub delivered from subway
1 pm - photographer arrives for "getting ready" pictures
    2 - 3:15 pm - formal pictures
    4 pm - ceremony
  • Here's an overall of what we planned out -

    Day before - Mani/pedi

    Day of -
    Wake-up, shower, etc - 8am
    Breakfast - 9am
Hair/makeup (they are coming to me) - 10:30am
    Photographers arrive - 11:45am
    Get Dressed- 12pm
    Limo pick-up- 1pm
    Ceremony- 2pm
    Pictures- 3-5pm
    Reception- 5pm-10pm

    Hope that helps!
  • I haven't figured out my timeline yet...My bridesmaids and I are getting pedicures on the Thursday before my Saturday wedding.  I have 8 bridesmaidsl 2 flower girls, plus myself and my mother getting their hair done.  My wedding is at 5 p.m.   My hair salon has set aside the owner (my longtime hairdresser) and two other girls for three hours.  I'm the only one getting my make-up done so that's not an issue.  We're starting at 10 a.m. but I'm thinking we don't need to be there that early.  We're bringing food & drinks into the salon.  I guess we can chat, eat and take our time.  We don't plan on getting to the golf club until 3 p.m.  Thanks for the post because I guess I need to think this through more but I have some time since my wedding is in 2 months.
  • I suggest you look at some hairstyles that you like.  Magazines, The Knot and Pinterest have some good ideas.  If you have the money then I suggest you have someone do your hair for you.  It's your big day and you deserve it!!!!!

  • I am a September 29th bride too!! Congrats!!

  • i have no idea what my schedule should be I am getting married sept 29th, 2012 at 3:00 pm can anybody help me on time I should do my makeup & the other stuff too?

<div>Our wedding day will be quite similar. Our ceremony starts at 10am and the reception is 12pm-3:30. At 5pm we will all meet up at my parents house. I am planning to do as much as I can the day before so that I wont be up at 5am to get ready.</div>
  • My day of schedule goes like this (working backwards seems to be the trend!):

7:30-8:00 - Photos of just me and my husband :)
    7 PM - Ceremony
5:30-6:30 - Arrive at location for group photos
4:00-4:45 - First look and photos at the Las Vegas sign (oh, we're getting married at Vegas)
    2:30-3:15 - Get dressed and bride's make-up on
12:00-2:00 - Get hair done with MOB, MIL and GrandMIL (also have touch-up done to nails if needed)
Around 11 - Have lunch with everyone getting their hair done with me

Any time that's not accounted for in this plan is for travel or food. There's also a lot of cushioning during the "getting ready" time in case we run behind for one reason or another.

Also, I've done a trail hair run (I'm having my MOH do my make-up and she lives across the country, so we can't really do a trial run for makeup). Along with being a fun thing to do for the wedding Laughing it gave me an idea of how long it would take, so that helped with planning a timeline and I would recommend having a trail run for any kind of beauty stuff you're planning on doing

10:00 am -Make up same place as hair salon

    Hey,
You may want to rethink a party  sub from Safeway. A lot of bread usually makes you bloat a bit. You'd probably look and feel better if you have something a little lighter. I know personallly, I feel much prettier if my stomach isn't full of air.

    'Just sayin' :)
  • Our Ceremony is at 3pm,
    My MoH and myself have last minute running to do at like 8am, we have to pick up the cake, make a stop at the mall for our candy, (can't have it here the day before b'c the kiddos will attempt to snatch it) so our day is looking like this;;;;

11am arrive at location with all dresses, makeup and hair stuff in tow, put cupcakes in cool place...
    1130-1230 hair and lunch
    1230-115 makeup

My ceremony is at 11:30am, and my Bridal Suite at my venue is available 2 hours prior, so here's my plan so far:

6:00am - 8:45am - Wake up and get my hair done, along with the girls doing their hair/make-up/getting dressed (I guess I'll be eating a litle something at this time too)
8:45am - 9:00am - Pack up and make our way outside to the limo
9:00am -  9:30am - Leave the hotel and go to the venue
9:30am - 10:15am - Get my make-up done in the Bridal Suite and get dressed
10:15am -11:15am - Do an hour of photos with my girls/mom/Grandma
    11:30am - 12:00pm - Ceremony
12:00pm - 1:00pm - Cocktail Hour, but we'll have to miss it for more photos (Oh well)
1:00pm - 5:00pm - Reception, and we finally get to really eat, party, and enjoy our guests

Love this post...  keep it going - anyone have mid-afternoon weddings with no travel required?  I'm trying to work mine out as well.  Have a 4:30 wedding at a hotel, all the prep is happening at the hotel.  Was thinking1115am start, but am worried I'm underestimating.

11:15 - girls meet at bride's room for snacks, champagne
12:00 - girls' spa day (hair, mani-pedi for girls, bridal hair/makeup)4:20 - coordinator's recommended meet-up time for bride to be at ceremony
2:30 - girls makeup toucups in own rooms, get dressed
3:00 -girls meet at bride's room
3:30-3:55 - girls getting ready pics
    4:00-4:25 - boys get a few photos w/ photographer
    4:30 - ceremony starts
5:00 - ceremony ends, begin formal pictures
  • MY PHOTOGRAPHER AND STYLIST HAVE BEEN AMAZING!!

OUR CEREMONY IS AT 330PM BUT I HAVE 8 GIRLS INCLUDING MYSELF AND THEY SUGGESTED STARTING BACKWARDS AS WELL AND TO ALWAYS TELL THE SALON THE TIME YOU HAVE TO BE DONE BY SUBTRACTING 1/2 HOUR

(I.E I NEED TO BE OUT OF THE SALON AND AT MY HOUSE TO GET READY  BY 1230PM LATEST....TELL THE SALON 1130, MOST LIKELY WONT GET OUT OF THERE TIL 12 AND ILL STILL BE ON TIME!)

    HOPE THIS HELPS!
