Little brother "job" HELP!

We are going to Vegas for the wedding, but are having a reception when we get back.  I have a 16 year old brother that needs to have something to feel like he isn't pushed aside on my day.  It's going to be an adult party, but he's obviously going to be there and I can't think of anything cool to have him do so he's not feeling left out, but I don't want him to think it's stupid or feel like he has to do something for busy work?  Any ideas on something meaningful?  We're pretty far apart in age and I just don't know what to do! Thanks!

  • I'm having my 11 year old brother walk my mother down the aisle in the processional.  Since my father is otherwise occupied :-) my brother will be with my mom.

Does your brother even WANT a "job" for your wedding?  Most 16 yr. old boys I know think weddings are stupid and won't get all the hype.

Ask him for some photos of just the two of you, if you are introducing your parents, also introduce your brother, or if he's agreeable to dancing in public, ask him to dance with you at your wedding and let him pick the song. Or if you and your DH will be making a toast to thank the guests, also thank your parents and your brother.

But the best way to keep him from feeling "pushed aside" is to actually spend some quality time with him.  Not just on your wedding day, but during the time before and after the wedding also.
  • if it is for your reception, why don't you and your husband get the music together to play and let him be in charge of music??? That is about the only job most 16 year olds might enjoy that I know...
