How did you come up with your screen name?

I'm bored and was lurking on other boards from way back when and I came across this topic. I'm sure we've done this here, but I think it's been a while. So how did you come up with your screen name? Considering what happened to Yaga (miss you! There are so many new posters I don't know!) do you worry about anonymity? Is there any particular reason you want to be anonymous?

how did you come up with your screen name?

It's just a condensed version of my name. I'm not very creative.

    Do you worry about anonymity?

Not really. I know people say this all the time, but I would say anything I say here in real life. But I'm not particularly snarky, so there's not very much here that people would bat an eye at in person. And any problems I've had with FI or friends that I come here for, I end up discussing with them eventually. I like to come here for different perspectives and to calm down sometimes, but there's nothing I discuss here that I don't discuss in real life in some form or another.

Is there any particular reason you want to be anonymous?

The only reason I can think of would be job related, but that's not the case for me. I can see people having valid reasons, but lots of people eventually become friends on FB or start communicating off the board. I feel like finding out someone's real name isn't that difficult (or maybe I'm just particularly good at internet stalking...hehe).

It's my initials & my birthday.  Super creative, super fancy.

    Do you worry about anonymity?

    Nope.

Is there any particular reason you want to be anonymous?

Not really.  I'm pretty easy to find & I'm ok with that.

Yes and no. Im sure I have vented about FILs from time to time and they don't need to know.

Is there any particular reason you want to be anonymous?
No, I used a name and avitar that everyone who knows me knows.

How did you come up with your screenname?
My parents have called me PeekABoo since I was a baby - the game used to make me laugh like crazy.  2011 = year I graduated college.

    Do you worry about anonymity?
Not really.  Although I know I've said some stuff on here that I probably wouldn't like repeated.

Is there any particular reason you want to be anonymous?
Nothing more than I'd not care for internet stalkers to find M and I.  Although most of you know my full IRL name and where I live, so, it's kind of a moot point.

It's nice to be able to say something and not worry about people you know judgind you, but I'm really not that worried about it.

how did you come up with your screen name?

I'm a photographer (Photo) plus first five letters of my last name (Derby) which is also one of my nicknames

    Do you worry about anonymity?

Somewhat. But it's usually a bit of an afterthought

Is there any particular reason you want to be anonymous?

We have had clients who use the boards here, so even though my posting here doesn't really overlap, I prefer to keep my internet life separate from my work life. The last thing I need is ladies asking about my posts on here while I'm working. Not that I post anything awful, but I am easily distracted and a bit paranoid. Also I come from a group of friends who love to lurk on the internet, so I know how creepy people can be.

So how did you come up with your screen name?

    Career field + initial.

There are so many new posters I don't know!) do you worry about anonymity?

I little bit, but if I've accepted you as a friend I trust you aren't a creeper

Is there any particular reason you want to be anonymous?

Mostly to protect my financial identity. I know it's a long shot, but there are people out there who can do horrific things with just a first name/last name/date of birth/city you were born.

I used to be a radio deejay and I used the onair name of Bella, which is a shortened version of my full name. I played a lot of unknown artists and lesser known songs, so of called my show Bella on the BSide. Then, one day, a fellow deejay started calling me BSide Bella, and it stuck. I don't worry about anonymity in the strictest sense. I don't share an overwhelming amount of personal information, I change names to protect the innocent, and I try to be vague. I figured using my onair name would be safe enough because I only ever used it for radio station business. Sorry if my formatting is wonky, I'm on the mobile site.

I don't worry about it too much, but I'd mainly prefer to be anonymous from people IRL.  I don't care if some of you know my real life name.

<div>Yeah, like this and Nursey said (with the ID/Financial theft), I definitely see where this is coming from. I am hyper aware of shredding things like old bills and not giving out my social or other sensitive info over the web (I still write checks for heaven's sake. I hate auto pay, and don't even really care for online shopping. Well, I love online shopping, but I hate typing my card numbers into infinite e-stores). Like a lot of other people, I give out the warning to newbs who may use their first and last name as a screen name or give way too much personal info in a post. But most of the times I see people change their screen name hasn't been because of ID theft, it's been because someone IRL found them and got upset, or they got into a dust up on the boards and either got banned, or want to start over and with a new name. </div><div>
</div><div>And, of course, way back when you couldn't use your same name/account between the knot/nest/bump (I'm pretty sure you can now, though). </div>

I don't remember how I came up with my screen name. Its just something random I guess. I wouldn't be thrilled if someone IRL found me on here but only because I like to keep my real life and online life seperate. I don't talk about anything super personal or vent too much about other people so I don't know what someone would get upset about if they found it. I also don't think it would be very easy to identify who I am from my posts or anything.

After everything with Yaga, yes. It happened to me as well, actually. I just decided I'm getting rid of pictures and anything that could really link me to who I am. I'll probably post some after the wedding, but I'm not going to keep them in my sig.

     I have enjoyed these stories!

So how did you come up with your screen name?

The initials are an inside joke between my boyfriend and me.  We've discussed general feelings about marriage, personal goals, etc. since early in our relationship.  He has been divorced and wanted to be cautious about remarriage.  I have never been married, but want to be cautious about who I bring into my daughter's life as a step-parent.  So, neither of us have been in a rush to get married.  After about three and a half years of being in a committed relationship (4+ months of that living together), I started to wonder what we were waiting for.  What it really felt like for me was a switch going off.  I was ready to marry him, make that commitment.  So, I initiated several more serious discussions about marriage, marriage readiness and timeline.  Somewhere in the midst of these serious discussions, I lightened the mood by joking that I was bitten by a Radioactive Wedding Spider (RWS).  It was my way at laughing at myself a bit.  Screen name wise, I just added the year of my encounter with this wily spider to get RWS2011.

    Do you worry about anonymity?

Only a little.  I like to make jokes and can be sarcastic from time to time, but I wouldn't post anything on a board that I wouldn't have the moxy to say in person. In general, I dislike the idea of potential employers sniffing out my personal life online.

Is there any particular reason you want to be anonymous?

Apart from potential employers and the desire to keep personal details offline for safety reasons, I don't have any current pressing concerns about anonymity.

So how did you come up with your screen name?

    cu = Clemson University
    97 = 1997, the year I graduated from CU
tiger = Tigers, the mascot of CU
I've been using this screenname forever, for everything.

    Do you worry about anonymity?

A little bit. I'd be totally surprised if anyone I knew IRL found me on here, but I guess it's possible. It would suck, but at this point, I'm not going to go and delete my sn and start over.

Is there any particular reason you want to be anonymous?

I'd rather not have anyone steal my identity. Luckily, I had an extremely common maiden name, so even if someone knew my real name, it would be pretty hard to google me or anything. I've kept my married name under wraps except for those of you on FB.

    What happened to yaga?

As far as my screen name goes, my FI and I heard a song when we first started dating from Postal Service called "Such Great Heights" with these lyrics: "I'm thinking it's a sign that the freckles in our eyes are mirror images and when we kiss they're perfectly aligned. And I have to speculate that God himself did make us into corresponding shapes like puzzle pieces from the clay."

And this is exactly how we felt about each other. So we just said we were each others missing puzzle piece.

My screen name is the phonetic spelling of my last initial (L).  I used to use it in a pen name when I published stories online, and I got to the point where "Elle" feels as much like my name as my real name does.  It's ideal for a place like this, though, because only a couple people know that.  I'm not sure where I got the numbers.  I used them in an AIM screen name when I was in 7th grade, but even then I didn't have any particular connection to them.

I used to be really worried about anonymity.  I never posted pictures, never shared my real name (which is unusual) with anyone...  I even changed details when I told stories on here.  Like, if I mentioned my brother, I would say it was my cousin or FI's brother instead just to keep anything from being just like my real life.  I've said a few less-than-flattering things on here about a couple people (my mom, my FSIL) and while I've said similar things to their faces, I'm sure they wouldn't be happy to see it posted online.

Now, though, I've loosened up a lot.  If somebody finds me, it'll suck for a while as Yaga and Jeana know, but it'll blow over.  And it's worth the risk to have deepened my friendships with so many of the girls here.

I remember Calindi saying that someone tracked down her FI's e-mail addy and e-mailed a picture of her in her dress to him. But it wasn't that big of a deal b/c she had already shown him, but she said she was freaked that someone would go to so much trouble to hurt her. I also remember some people believing this, and some people not. I only remember a little of what Jeana said, so I don't want to misinterpret or spread false info about that.

I came up with it when I was seven and signing up for my first online game. I've used it on and off for my username ever sense. It's my two favorite flowers and then my two favorite numbers. Not till later did I find out the meaning of 42!

Not really. I don't say anything online that I wouldn't be willing to say to a persons face in real life. Or at least that's my personal goal.

Is there any particular reason you want to be anonymous?

Well I'd rather not have friends and family getting to excited about my having an acount on a wedding website. My mother wants me to get married really bad... I fear motherzilla.

Yup. I don't remember details of what Jeana's exact situation was except that someone IRL found her posts and wasn't happy.

And Cate did claim that someone emailed a picture of her dress to her FI. No one ever confessed to doing so that I know of.
