Too-Tight Shoes

I have size 10 feet that are wide, so finding my wedding shoes has been a real problem.  I finally found a pair I LOVE, that will go perfectly with my dress!  The only problem: they are just a little too tight in the toes.

Does anyone know of a good way to stretch shoes a bit?  Mine are fabric outer, with a leather lining.  I really, really love them, & want them to work!
Thanks!

Re: Too-Tight Shoes

  • Take them to a shoe repair shop... they have machines to "ease" or stretch shoes. Much better than trying to DIY! Good luck!
  • My daughter has wide feet as well. We bought her a shoe-stretcher, I believe at Target. It's got plastic or wood pieces to stretch the area across the front of the foot, and works on a system of screws to allow you to make shoes wider, or longer.

    Good luck.
  • I used to work in a shoe store...and I would tell people ALL the time this super crazy way (that's free and actually works!) I have had to do it to some peep toes so that I dont lose circulation in my poor big toes after an hour! Because they are leather, this trick will work great for ya! Take a paper towel, fold it to the size you would need to fit inside the part of the shoe you need to stretch and get it wet, wring it out a little. (you might need to use a couple to completely fill in the part of the shoe that needs stretching)Then, so you don't damage the shoe with water, put the towel in a ziploc baggie. Stuff the paper towel in the ziploc into the toe of your shoe and pop that baby in the freezer. When the wet paper towel freezes, the water will expand, stretching your shoe! Leave it up to overnight for best results. Good luck!

Thank you for the ideas!  I'll try the freezer one, and buy a shoe stretcher (just in case) :)
