Oh, Hetshup, even my boss always writes isle instead of aisle. It kills me, but I guess I'll forgive him as English isn't his first language.

I like that MissOnnaleese has a ferret named Uh-Oh.

I think prasad007 should send us some cake!

Tafft and I have some shared interest in pin-up style.

Oh, and I feel kinda old!

Oh man, now I made the typo!  Okay, I fixed it...

I liked seeing how old everyone was.  For some people, I totally misguessed their age (mid-30's when they were really 22).

Also, all the people who wrote their age as "20's" or "SO is X years older than me" - they clearly are afraid of being labeled beebees for being young, but as long as they don't make us think they're not mature enough to get married we don't really care.

Narwhal, I didn't mean that snarky!  And you weren't the only one to put "20's" or "early 20's"- I just found it funny that some people didn't want to give their real age.

No judgements - you KNOW I don't think you're a kid.  Well, if you don't know that, I'm telling you!  There are people on here in their mid- to late- 20's or even into their 30's who come off as not mature enough to get married - you're not one of 'em.  But often we do tend to ask people how old they are when they're acting immature, just to see if the age matches the maturity level.

Some people are wise beyond their years.  And some choose not to reveal how many years.

I just think it's inappropriate for you to say that it's clear that the reason people don't disclose their age is that they're afraid of being called a beebee.  Do you really think I'm afraid of being called a beebee? That Hazel (who also chose to not disclose her age) is in her late 20s.  Think she's afraid of being a beebee?

You know what I think is just hilarious? The fact that you told someone "congrats, you're engaged!" and then in your post you say "we don't consider ourselves engaged but we're getting married in August 2012.  Why do you get to make the decision for both your relationship and someone elses?
    Anniversary
  • edited December 2011
Whoa, okay.  I told someone she was engaged because she had a date, a venue, and a dress.  Putting down money and making specific plans is by the dictionary definition engaged.  In my case, our timeline is by default, but we have not made any specific plans besides just knowing that we have that 5 week window in which the military can't tell us we have to change all our plans.  No money is involved, and I've never stepped foot in a dress shop.  Everything my BF and I have talked about is hypothetical, and by all accounts it sounds like you'll be married well before me.  But if someone has put down deposits and bought a dress and has a date and STILL doesn't want to consider themselves engaged, cool.

And second, I'm sorry for offending you.  I really didn't mean to make that snarky, I just found it funny that people weren't putting their ages.  I was trying to say that I don't judge people on their age but rather their maturity level, which are not necessarily connected.  I know a couple that got accidentally pregnant at 15 years old and got married with their parents permission at 16, and are still married today and happy - their child goes to college next year! Obviously they grew up very quickly, but their maturity level apparently was sufficient to build a strong relationship.  Thus I by NO MEANS would judge someone solely on their age.  I should not have surmised why people chose to hid their ages, I probably should have said, "It might be because..." or "possibly".

Agreed, I've made no act of being a 'beebee' and I didn't disclose my age.  I could head over to google with your name and age and general location and I'm sure I would find something about you. And whose to say everyone who posted their age wasn't lying? It was rude of you to call people out for not disclosing personal information.

I don't CARE what age you are, or anyone else!  I just thought it was funny that people cared to hide it.  I thought this thread was supposed to be about what people thought was funny - could this all have been avoided if I had put "Maybe some of these people" instead of "clearly"?  Probably, but seriously, it wasn't intended to single anyone out!

Sorry for offending anyone, it wasn't my intention.

    How much older??

There are a couple of people on here that I thought were older, and some that I thought were younger.  But age is just a number (in most non beebee situations) right?

Cate, I agree with other pps. I assume if someone doesn't want to share information like age, location, and pictures, it's probably because they don't want their in-laws to be able to stumble upon this forum and figure out who they are and what they're saying.

That may have happened to someone recently.
