Caffeine?

Let's just call me a caffeine addict. I reached the point of dependency somewhere during high school when I was doing both community college and high school at the same time, trying to stay involved with FFA and some other extra cirriculars and working 25 hours a week to support myself. Soda, coffee, tea, energy drinks, you name it, I'd drink it.

H has always been kind of disgusted at the amount of caffeine I need to function every day. And he's made it his personal mission to get me off it or at least to a point where I'm not dependent. He made me a deal that if I could go a week without it, we'd go see a movie of my choice. This is kind of a big deal because the man hates movies. I started on Sunday...so I only have like three more days to go and I think I can do it!

Do you drink caffeine? Is it soda, tea, coffee, energy drinks, or something else? If you don't, I wanna know why.

Nope, I don't drink caffeine....or very, very little of it anyways.

I've never liked the carbonation in soda, and hate the taste of coffee, and only drink (decaf) tea in the wintertime, so it was not ever an issue growing up. And if I have caffeine too late in the day I don't sleep well. Now I have gall bladder issues, and caffeine makes it worse, so I try to avoid it even more.

DH doesn't wake up well in the morning without coffee, but for me a nice shower does the trick. Most mornings I'm still the most awake person at work/church! :)

I used to drink a lot of soda, but stopped because I wanted to lose weight.  Haven't gone back since.  The only caffeine that I ever consume is green tea when I'm sick.

I have never really needed it to keep me awake. In fact, when I am sleepy and FI wants me to stay up, it usually doesn't even affect me, and I end up falling asleep anyway.

I like coffee with my breakfast in the morning.  I drink 2-3 cups before going to work.  I occasionally drink pop with caffeine in it, but I try to drink minimal pop in general since I know it's not great for me.  I like tea, but don't drink much of it.  Every time I drink something with caffeine to try to stay awake I end up shaky, so I've given up and learned to just go to bed.

FI's family for some unknown reason does not drink coffee every morning, only sometimes.  Often they will randomly go to the gas station and buy coffee after church.  This makes no sense to me.  I like coffee with breakfast, or with desserts sometimes.

I get headaches if I don't drink caffeine.  Coffee, Coke (especially Coke Zero and Diet DP), Sweet Tea...it's ridiculous how much Sweet Tea I drink.  Sometimes, I can make it through an entire day, but day 2 is rough.  I was able to give it up totally for Lent last year, so I know I CAN do it, I just don't want to right now.  I know I'll need to cut waaaay back when we're TTC and pregnant.

I drink gobs of it.  Dude, I work in theatre, it's practically a requirement of the job!  but I don't smoke or do other drugs, I eat fairly healthy, I (usually) exercise...I figure, it's my one vice, it's fine :-P

I don't need it by any means (well ok some days its sure feels like a need)  but I do enjoy my caffine.  I don't have it everyday.

side note.  What did you do in FFA?  I was one of those kids that had their hand in almost everything, but never excelled at one specific thing.

I drink coffee occationally, but not every day. I usually only drink water because I don't like coke or other sweet drinks that much.

I do drink caffeine, but I've been trying to cut back on the amount I drink since I want to lose weight.  I used to drink 3-4 sodas a day and have been able to cut back to 1 soda a day. I have gone a few days without it and luckily I don't get headaches too much.

I don't stay away from it in soda, but cannot drink caffeinated coffee/tea.  It causes horrible heartburn and the doctor says that my cysts? in my breasts get worse from caffeine.  I drink mostly water.

I've always been completely afraid of caffeine dependency so I've never started. Since I really very rarely consume any, when I do I will be TOTALLY bouncing off the walls. And on those really rare occasions, when my body starts to get rid of it and I come of that crazy caffeine high, I get really light headed and I never feel good. Over all I have always loved how coffee smells, I just don't drink it.

Mainly just the Career Developement Events. I lived in the suburbs by the time I got to high school (lived on a farm for elementary and most of middle school), so I wasn't able to show animals.

Specifically, I did Job Interview, Extemporaneous Public Speaking, Prepared Public Speaking, and Parli Pro. Never won state or anything cool like that, but I did dominate my district all four years.

Went to National Convention in Indy twice for National Chapter.

Probably more information than you wanted but I <3 FFA and could talk about it for hours.

I used to have 2 espresso shots most work days, and up to 24 oz. of Coke/day, and maybe a cup of black tea in there somewhere.

I found the caffeine crash with the coffee made me jittery. As much as it helped me through the mornings, I didn't like my afternoons. And I got withdrawal headaches on weekends. Now I usually skip it, unless I've gotten less than 6 hours sleep the night before.

I still have Coke and tea, but ounce-for-ounce, Coke has 1/3 the caffeine of coffee, and tea has 1/2.

oh my gosh I loved it too!  My family had NO clue where I came from.  The thought of me liking farm animals enough to own one boggled their minds.  I ended up moving from the city to a more rural area after my freshman yr of HS so I got my chance and LOVED every minute of it.
I did the interview, parli pro and the creed several years.  But our chapter wasn't really good at getting that stuff together so it was mostly ag mech/ animals.

ETA:  I will say that I have bad migraines, and caffeine helps me when I'm having them.  So I chug soda when I have one, lol.  I also periodically enjoy coffee and espresso drinks, but I hate tea.  I know, I know, I'm a Southern girl and I don't even like sweet tea, lol.

I'll ad that I'm not addicted to the caffeine.  I am addicted to the bubbles in soda.  I could happily drink decaffeinated whatever and have no problems.  Take away my carbonated beverages and I will be a raging maniac.

I do, but rarely. I have a family history of heart problems (arrhythmias are the big concern) so I'm supposed to stay away from caffeine, junk food, smoking, ect.

For that reason I'm not a big soda drinker and I dislike coffee. I must say that I do enjoy tea. My mom is from Texas so she makes the best sweet tea, but I limit it to a glass or two when I visit her.

I'm guilty of using Excedrine Migraine a lot, which has caffeine. Maybe that's a sneaky way to get your fix hehe

I organized Ag Mech for our district for three years because my advisor had too much going on. That was fun.

For my junior and senior year I wanted to be an ag teacher just so I could be an FFA advisor. It was like the drug I couldn't quit.

I'm surprised no one has done an intervention yet with me when it comes to caffiene. Basically from when I wake up to 3:30 I'm drinking something caffinated. For some reason I can't sleep a wink if I have anything after 3:30.

I agree with Drama, I have no other vices, so I'm allowed this one. ;)

Side note, I leave a case of pop at FI's house since we hang out there most often. He decided to quit drinking pop to save money, and instead drinks all of mine. SO OBNOXIOUS. Don't get between me and my Diet Coke! ;)

I can't drink soda (stems from an allergy from when I was young). I don't like the taste of coffee (except I do love chocolate milkshakes with a bit of coffee in them). I drink tea, but I'm not dependant on it, I can't even really tell that the caffiene does anything to me.  I've never tried energy drinks -- never had a need to.

I used to be very dependent on it.. had to have my coffee or an energy drink in the morning or I'd get that really bad caffeine headache and then sometimes I'd have more throughout the day. Then I got labyrinthitis and my life changed... one of the things I read was that caffeine made my symptoms worse so over Thanksgiving weekend when I didn't have to be at work for a few days straight I decided it was time to quit... cold turkey. It wasn't easy, but it also wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. DH said I was crabby to say the least on day 1, but after that I started to do better. It took a while before my coffee cravings went away and it was really weird not having it at my desk in the morning, but I got past it. I still really enjoy coffee every once in a while, but very rarely and I'm so proud of myself for giving it up, because like Emily said I knew I'd have to do it someday when we are TTC.

I drink a cup of coffee daily during the workweek becuase we have a kitty going that gets us good DD coffee for cheap. When possible, I substitute agave for sugar and try to use light milk rather than cream.

I do drink tea regularly (that comes with living in China, altough I've always enjoyed tea).  I quite drinking all soda products in college and haven't looked back.

I don't drink any of the above for the caffeine factor , primarily, but because I enjoy the taste of the drink.

Oh my goodness do I love caffeine. I get headaches, dizziness, all of that if I don't drink at least a cup of coffee in the morning. Sometimes I'll even wake up with a headache if I sleep past the point in time where my body's usually already had it's caffeine fix.
One time I had to cut it out as part of a diet study that my doctor prescribed, along with sugars, carbs, and pretty much all things good - It was the most horrendous week of my life. I was such a horrible person to be around. Caffeine is a beautiful thing for me to have.

I never drank coffee until I met H. He drinks coffee everyday- usually 2-3 cups a day. I drink one cup a day (occasionally 2), but that didn't start until he got me drinking it. I love Coke Zero and Pepsi Max, but we don't buy them much, just get it when we go to fast food places, etc. But I do love my coffee each day... what I don't love is the bathroom trips every 20 minutes haha.
