honeymoon - when are you going?

FI and I have been talking about maybe postponing the honeymoon so we can save enough to go on the trip of a lifetime.  However, i've always liked the traditional idea of leaving to our honeymoon a day or two after we get married.

We are going for a few days to somewhere close by to the wedding (in Boston) or when we road trip back to Chicago.  We will go on a "real" honeymoon sometime in the future, but havent planned anything yet.

Our honeymoon would probably be at a later date since I will probably will be in school around the time of the wedding.

Ditto JessNLane. Although we're getting married in October, we want to wait until it's REALLY cold in chicago to go somewhere tropical Smile

Monday after the wedding for us!
Originally it was due to my work not being super flexible with vacation time, but now I'm looking forward to relaxing right after the wedding.

We are leaving the Sunday night/Monday morning after our Saturday wedding. I probably would have liked to wait a little bit so we could have awhile to rest and relax and be with our families, but this works, too!

We are going on the Monday after to the carribean. For our honeymoon we didn't pick somewhere we really wanted to sightsee or anything because everyone says you are so tired. But we did want to go somewhere, the thought of going back to work on Monday was really depressing to me:) haha. We will save our big trips for another time when we can focus on planning them and have the energy to do everything we want there.

We're actually leaving Sunday night after the wedding...we were planning on leaving a few days later, but since we are going to Europe and with the time change and amount of time we want to be there (plus to be back in time for work for quarter end), it was just easier.

We're leaving the Monday after our 2nd reception in mid-April (about a month after the actual wedding). We wanted to wait until all the festivities are over with so there's no more wedding stress while we're honeymooning. It was weird to be back at work Monday following our actual wedding, but I'm actually really glad we didn't go right away because it gives us so much to look forward to and it's not all over yet. The day after the wedding you have this overwhelming feeling of "I can't believe it's all over!" so it's a good way to extend the feelings of excitement.
We were married Friday and stayed at the Intercontinental O'Hare on Saturday night for no other reason than to not be at home right away and have a bit of a mini-moon, which was a great idea and we really enjoyed ourselves.

We are getting married in September, going up to Lake Geneva for a couple nights afterwards, then waiting until February or March to go on the honeymoon.

We're leaving w/i a week of the wedding. FI's a teacher so we have to go when he has his school breaks. It really sucks that he can't take vacation, but teachers get so much time off I don't really feel bad for him.

We're waiting a couple of months after our wedding.  I don't know how anyone does it planning and saving for a honeymoon and a wedding at the same time!  We're leaning toward going to Hawaii because neither one of us have ever been there and we also want to wait a couple of months until February to save up and to go when we're really sick of winter.

We have not planned it yet, but we do know that we want to take ours right away, it will be the only time that we will get to go... it will be cold here so it will be nice to get away to somewhere warm to relax just the two of us.

We left the Monday after our wedding, and I have to say- I was really thankful we left so soon. The wedding went by so fast, and the week away gave us time to be together alone. I had a friend who didn't go on her honeymoon right away, and she got hit with a serious case of the post-wedding blues. She was really bummed they didn't leave right away. If you can, you should go as soon as possible.

We'll do a minimoon right after the wedding to get away from work and family/friends that will be somewhere a little more local (up North Michigan maybe?). Then we'll go on our big honeymoon (France) a little later after we've saved up money again.

We will be spending two days at a resort about an hour outside of Chicago just so that we can rest for a little bit.  Then we'll save up for a long much more exciting vacation for our first anniversary.  We realized that with the amount that we've managed to save up to pay for the wedding this year, if we save even half that much next year, we can go on a totally kicka$$ trip!  :-)
