S/O Flying... PIP

This is how Oscar flies ;)

There's really no point to this post except to show off my little guy :)

Re: S/O Flying... PIP

  • Aw, that's cute!

And is that allowed?  I thought pets had to stay in the carrier.

  • My dog would be so spastic, they'd open the door and pitch both of us out of the plane at 30000 feet.

  • No, not allowed...  They're supposed to be in their carriers under the seat at all times.  But it was his 4th flight in a week, and he was DONE with the carrier.  Whining, small barks, etc.

Luckily the flight attendant was a dog lover, so she allowed it.  She even brought him water :)  And he was just as happy as he could be on my lap - didn't move an inch and went right to sleep...
  • 4 flights in a week?  What on earth?

  • Monterrey - Dallas on Thanksgiving
Dallas - New York on Saturday
New York - Dallas on Tuesday
    Dallas - Monterrey on Thursday

    We were all tired...
  • Good grief.  Do you have any idea what time it is?  All that jetlag. . .

  • Haha, how cute.  I want to fly with my dog so bad but I don't think he'd handle it too well under the seat, so I'm way too afraid to try.
  • Wow, that's a lot of flying, for you and the little guy!

One time I was on an 8-hour flight and this guy had a little dog that would.not.stop.barking.  It was making everyone nuts.  Then he took the dog out and put it on the tray table.  When the flight attendant told him that the dog couldn't be out of the carrier, and people eat off the tray table so the dog really can't be up there, the guy threw a fit and started making her life hell.  It got worse and worse until the other attendants and finally the captain even came out to tell him to stop being obnoxious and to put his dog away.  This guy was screaming that his was a show dog, and would die if she had to stay in her carrier for 8+ hours (then why fly her to Germany, dipshit?), and that he would sue them all for everything they were worth if the dog died or was hurt.  Everyone on the plane wanted to throw him and the dog out the door, 30,000-foot altitude or not.

Moral of the (too long) story?  Thanks for not being that guy.  ;-)
  • Just barely :)

And we're doing to it all over again in two days to go skiing:

    Monterrey - Dallas on Wednesday
Dallas - Salt Lake City on Thursday
Salt Lake - Dallas - Monterrey on Tuesday

Even though we're very excited to go skiing, we wish we had a few more days at home before heading off again.  I'm sure that once we get there it will be worth it though :)

  • Scarlet - that's horrible!!!  If you can't discipline your dog not to bark incessantly you shouldn't be flying with him.
  • He is super cute!

I always think, I don't want a dog, no I really don't. Then I see pics like Oscar and it makes me go, Awww I do want a doggeh!

Tell you what, Whit, you can have mine. She's a retired greyhound rescue, just beautiful. Short hair, no doggies odor at all. But she's got this thing for litter boxes. She got into it Saturday, and threw up 3 different places. Could she do it on the hardwood? No, of course not. Has to be on the rugs. Damn dog.
  • Expat, I really do think I might! But maybe one without a voice box? I don't like barking, haha.

Sara, ewwwww. No thanks. That just reminded me why I don't want babies.
