Grand Entrance...

Ok so I'm curious what the tradition is where your from about how the bridal party enter at the reception. I see that some people are choosing diffrent songs for say the entrance of the parents, versus the bridal party, versus the bride and groom. I've never seen this done before! Where I'm from everyone enters on the same song and such. I'm just curious what other peoples norm is

Re: Grand Entrance...

  • Our norm is one song for the bridal party, another for the bride and groom. I'm not really sure about the parents.

Where I'm from there is usually a song for EACH bridal pair. So one of my bridesmaids would come out with one groomsmen, then so on and so forth, each with a different song. And then of course when the bridal couple come out there is a new song for them too! I really think it's fun because as each pair comes out they get a new song and they do a little fun dance to get the crowd pumped up!

But since we have an uneven number of groomsmen and bridesmaids we can't do that. So we are going to have the 3 bridesmaids come out together to one song, and then the 4 groomsmen come out to one song and then the maid of honour and best man come out separately to another song and then me and my FI!

ETA: There is no entrance for the parents. They are already seated when the reception/introductions start.

  • our DJ said we can pick a different song for each person and they will make a mix,,,but that was too much so we did parents/bridal party/us instead!

  • There is usually one song for the bridal party then a song for the bride and groom.  But the parents are already seated when this happens so they don't walk in to anything...

Our parents will already be seated when the reception starts. Each BM/GM pair will come in together but all to the same song (I think). They'll dance their way in and pump up the crowd. This includes the MOH/BM. Then, JP and I will come in last to a different song.

This has been the most common entrance with the weddings I've been to in the northeast but I've seen it the other ways too.

  • I'm used to seeing the Grand Entrance have one song and only the bridal party and B&G enter, not the parents.

I believe in a lot of things. I believe in fresh tennis balls, the healing power of bunnies, and that the novels of Susan Sontag are something I'll never read. In fact, I don't even know who Susan Sontag is. What is she... like... a painter? I believe in Crystal Lite because I believe in ME. I believe in the movies of Val Kilmer, though these days it ain't so easy. I believe in Darren Sproles, the word "dabble", the first season of "Silk Stockings", and big, warm, moist, gooey chocolate chip cookies that melt in your mouth and all over your face.

  • I have worked with wedding planners and DJ's and truly everyone does it differently but typically it feels too choppy to do a song for each person or group so I've seen a lot of people do just one song for the entire entrance or they pick two songs one for the bridal party and one for the couple.  The parents are already seated for the entrance.

How exciting your wedding is so close.  Congrats!
