Signature Cocktails

Re: Signature Cocktails

  • I'm a bartender and I have to say that Mojito Republic does an excellent mojito mix that tastes super fresh. Just add a sprig of mint on top.
  • My fiance and I are having a menu of various martinis *just* during the cocktail hour.  For the entire event we're having wines, beers, water, and soft drinks.  Before the ceremony we're having a spritzer table with two types of drinks in apothocary jars: fresh lemonade and cucumber-basil water.  For the toast we're having a moscato wine.

The martinis are going to be:

three olive dirty martinis (for those who are less adventurous)
vanilla-honey martinis (for those who are slightly adventurous - and also, a very affordable drink)
blood orange martinis (my favorite) and
    chocolate-mint martinis (my fiance's favorite)

These are all being made with vodka....although maybe the chocolate one will require we buy Baileys.  We are buying the alcohol ourselves (which is cheaper than having the caterers do so) and they are making/serving these.  Doing all these with one type of booze makes them easier and cheaper, and because they are easier than a full open bar worth of mixed drinks, we don't have to hire a special bartender.

These will be served with three types of buffet appetizers (cheese/bread/crackers, vegetables and dip, and assorted fruits) and 5 types of passed appetizers including deviled eggs, mac-n-cheese with shaved truffle, warmed asparagus soup shooters garnished with white asparagus, rosemary-lemon chickpea fritters with sweet red chili pepper glaze etc. We felt the flavors of the above would go well with the fruit, cheese, and so forth. (Chocolate mint one is really more a dessert beverage but as it is my fiance's big day, I see no point in worrying so much about that stuff)

If you had to pick 1 or 2 drinks, I'd pick one based on the region, theme, or what is in season.  I.E. if you are getting married in a desert, use tequila.  If you are getting married in the winter, pick a drink that reflects ice and snow (coconut or mint?) I'd also ask your caterer or bartender what they suggest to save $.
  • I am having the hardest time finding shoes for my dress. It's a destination wedding in Mexico and I really want something fabulous.

Anyone have any suggestions for shoes for this dress? http://www.mikaellabridal.com/2012/06/03/classics-collection-style-1661/

    Thanks!
  • We've decided that in addition to beer and wine, we will offer a signature cocktail.  We're having a casual modern summer wedding in a loft in downtown Kansas City.  Our colors are yellow and gray.  The perfect cocktail:  The Summer Shandy!  We won't have to spend any more on the bar tab because it simply uses beer (which we'll already have) and lemonade.  It couldn't have worked out better.  It encompasses the feel and color scheme of our wedding.  Also, it's a cheap and effective solution for a summery cocktail.

  • We get two signature cocktails for our package. My fiance LOVES sidecars, so we'll do a "side-by-side car" Any ideas on making it unique (ingrediant-wise)

and mine I want to do a white sangria w/ st. germaine. I have no idea what to call it....
  • Maybe you should change your signature drink. Here's a few ideas:

    Sangria Flora

    Ingredients:
1 bottle Sauvignon Blanc or Dry White Wine
    1 cup St-Germain
    2 Fresh Peaches*
    5-6 Fresh Strawberries*
    6 Fresh Raspberries*
    1 bunch Fresh Grapes*

Method: Stir ingredients in a pitcher or carafe. Soak for approximately 15 minutes (or longer if desired). Serve in an ice-filled glass, then telephone your physician and regale him with stories of your exemplary fruit consumption. Serve with St-Germain spoon-straws to enjoy the fruit while drinking. *Merely suggestions – be creative with your favorite fruits.

    La Rosette

    Ingredients:
    ½ part St-Germain
    top with Brut Rosé

Method: Pour ingredients into a chilled fluted glass and stir lightly. Float half a strawberry as a garnish. Drink a toast to the elegance of simplicity and the divinity of les fraises fraîches. Variation: Experiment with other garnishes. A lemon twist, or raspberries perhaps. Just don’t tell the strawberries – you know how jealous they can get.

    White Cosmopolitan

    Ingredients:
    2 oz. Grey Goose vodka
    1 oz. St. Germain liquor
    1/2 oz. lime juice
    1 oz. white cranberry juice
Orchid or any other edible flower & Ice

Method: Shake vodka, St. Germain liquor, lime juice and white cranberry juice together with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish: There are twice as many orchid species than bird species. Be sure to choose a dainty variety to top your cocktail.

    The St-Germain Cocktail

    Ingredients:
2 parts Brut Champagne or Dry Sparkling Wine
    1½ parts St-Germain
    2 parts Club Soda

Method: Stir ingredients in a tall ice-filled Collins glass, mixing completely. Think of Paris circa 1947. Garnish: With a lemon or lime.

[QUOTE]I'm a bartender, I would recommend substituting the muddled mint with a pre-made mojito mix, Dailys and Master of Mixes are two good brands that come to mind. It will be cheaper and deff less time consuming for the bartender.  If you are dead set on the muddled mint (and maybe on using fresh strawberries too? yum!) then I would pay to have an extra bartender there just responsible for making the drink. If that was my sole job at a wedding to make one drink (and maybe the other sig cocktail?) it wouldn't be so bad. Then again, how many guests do you plan on having? That would also make all the difference

I would not even consider a mix - tastes horrible and why would you want to serve something  yucky as your signature drink. You could easily pre-mix everything except the mint and muddle as needed for that. Definitely have enough bartenders - everyone hates waiting for drinks!
  • I am struggling with the alcohol portion all together. I know I have famiy that drinks beer and things like Jack and Coke. I only drink Strawberry Daquiris and my FI drinks Vodka and OJ.

Im scared to offer an open bar because of the cost. My colors are Olive Green and Malibu Blue
  • My groom chose Blue Martini's and I chose Blue Hawaiians.

  • We are doing a signature cocktail, however it wont be passed, just a sign at the bar. Since our wedding is in ny and our color is navy, we went with a martini (with blue in it), you could do something with champagne thats passed as people enter the cocktail hour?
  • This is going to sound totally out there, but I thought a mojito would be a great drink... Until I thought of mint and strawberry seeds getting stuck in my teeth on a big picture-taking day. Yikes! Add that into the whole pre-muddling issue, and we are currently searching for another cocktail :/
  • I bartend & cocktail, and I'm going to warn you now: mojitos are a PITA, almost as much as a Miami Vice, but not quite on the level as that drink you got from that hipster bartender in that hole in the wall bar in I think it was Seattle? and it had cherries in it and was blue but it definitely had whiskey but I'm not really sure of the other ingredients. You cannot pre-muddle, but you can pre-tip your bartender. That alaways makes things smoother for me.
  • I want a drink that will be dark purple .For this is my color . I seen where a couple took 2 drinks and it turned purple . Can anyone help me out
