Wedding Woes

from where i cheat

OP:
i just found out that my boyfriend doesn't brush his teeth at night.  i always thought he had horrible morning breath, but i thought he didn't have any control over it, and i tried to suck it up.

i have ocd, and i recognize i shouldn't get him involved with my obsessions.

can i get him to brush his teeth at night?  i don't want to shame him, but i think it's gross.

EVERY RESPONSE:
omg so gross.  tell him that you don't want to kiss anything that smells like a dog pooped into it.  this is not about your ocd; this is about living in a society.

Re: from where i cheat

  • "This is about living in a society"? Really? The entire world somehow knows I only brush once a day and is suffering for it?

I mean, if she doesn't like it, she doesn't. She can tell him to brush at bedtime or she won't sleep over anymore or something. Whatever. But don't go dragging the rest of us into this.

  • oh, baconsmom.  don't ever change your humorless ways.

  • I just don't understand asking other people for input on this. It's funny until I realize that these are actual human beings who are probably going to be in charge of raising other human beings someday, and then it just makes me cry.

  • I so thought this was going to be a story about you wearing skimpy clothes in a supermarket Starbucks.
  • Baconsmom, brush your damn teeth!

  • One of my brothers had HORRIBLE oral hygiene.  HORRIBLE.  And his way of clearing up morning breath?  Mountain Dew.  And sometimes Doritos.  I stayed at his apartment once and noticed that although there was a toothbrush in his bathroom, it was stored in a travel case that just happened to be coffin shaped.  How appropriate.

My shaming did not help.  But then he went and got himself a wife and she seems to have used reason or perhaps other tactics to improve him.  I am still not sure how he went about getting his wife.  She is so well groomed.

That is not story worthy.  That is just a day in the life of Hmo.

Dorito breath vs. morning breath is a question for the ages.
  • Heffa, he said it made the icky stuff in his mouth go away.  I think it just made his thick layer of plaque taste more like Doritos for a bit.

  • I'm sure his teeth are a nice shade of yellow between the doritos and tarter.

  • NOLA, that makes me gag.  And then I think of cream cheese in teeth, and I gag again.

The acid in the mountain dew probably burned off a lot of bacteria. But yeah, brush your teeth.
