A tad bit neurotic...

So I stalk my registries bc I now pretty much think kitchen gadgets are better than porn. Lol. Anyways, someone bought something and I'm so stoked that I almost peed myself with excitement! Lol. I know it's def not about the gifts but did anyone else get super excited about seeing the word 'complete' on their registry? Oh! Also, I see things go on major sale at Macy's all the time online and I think "I should just buy that now!" how do you resist when it's 60% off?!? Haha

Re: A tad bit neurotic...

  • Lol our first gift was actually our silver storage chest (from my mom!).  I saw it at the office and I literally yelled, "oh my gosh!" One of my BFFs at the office was walking by, she heard me, ran in, and was like, "oh no did one of your clients get sued??"  (I am a transactional lawyer and lawsuits are our worst nightmare because we hate court)

But yes I'm totally feeling you on the kitchen gadgets!  The day before my shower I finally resigned myself to nobody really buying us gadgets - all the items that had been bought were lovely, breakable, "keep forever" type things.  So generous!  But then the night before I saw somebody had gone on a shopping spree and I felt like a winner - they bought me the $9 veggie peeler that was hands down one of my favorite items on there, which I would never have bought myself (who pays $9 for a veggie peeler?)

"Traffic" has slowed down a lot since my shower last weekend, but I think it will pick back up again in a few weeks... the week before my shower was crazy.  I was looking at it three or four times a day!

  • Lol, I was also a habitual registry stalker too. It was so much fun to see things get completed. We didn't have a ton of gadgets on our because we have many already, but I certainly understand the excitement. I was most excited when our pretty red KitchenAid stand mixer was bought! My second favorite item was the $12 a piece red wine glasses from Crate and Barrel that I would never buy myself because of the price but I was so happy when I saw all of them had been purchased. I now use them often and they make me happy :)

  • Our first gift was margarita glasses, and I stalked it waiting to see when the blender would get purchased. Sad.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Our first gift was an iron! I thought that was really hilarious, still do in fact. I guess I thought that whoever bought the first gift would be someone hoping to get first crack at something cool. Instead, they really wanted to get their hands on that iron! Makes me giggle and I can't wait to see who bought it at the shower.

I have been stalking too, and I think its part of the fun. Recently our flatware, pots and pans, and my favorite Le Creuset dutch oven got purchased!! That was a big day!! Its also nice seeing that people are getting the things we need. Like our bedding, flatware, and pots and pans really make a home, and that makes me happy. No one has purchased any of our china or crystal yet but I am actually sort of happy about that. I had a fear that all those fancy things would get purchased first and then we would be left without a toaster or forks.

  • I know it will but its so addicting!! Lol. The item was the Le Crueset pot with the lid that is a pan...I have never been so excited for a pot/pan in my life! Lol. I didn't even know about all the china/crystal/Le Crueset vs Martha Stewart/Wusthof vs Henckels kitchen knowledge before my registry, so I think I'm even more excited to get actual good stuff to cook in and see the difference!

[QUOTE]We're not supposed to peek.... But we do. Yeah, it's exciting.  I was so thrilled when all my china got purchased for the first wedding.  Still using it today.

<div>Macy's was running a buy 1 get 1 free sale for a few weeks, and all our place settings of china are gone.  No serving pieces yet though - did you get any serving pieces?</div>

  • I actually received 6 place settings (half of what we registered for! Yay!) in the mail today! It didn't say complete on my registry but they were from Macy's. I went in and edited it. 1 arrived broke and I had to go exchange it so I found out it WAS the buy one get one bc they had a hassle exchanging it. I felt a tiny bit bad they showed me the price but it was from my mom. I guess that doesn't make sense since I see all the prices when registering anyways, I dunno just a thought. Now I'm dying to know who got me the Le Creuset pot/pan! Oh and weird question...since we now have the settings can we use them starting now? Lol

<div>Technically, you should not use any gifts until after your wedding, in the event the wedding does not take place. </div><div>

  • Our first gift bought was a pickling kit (to make pickles) that I thought was ridiculous and I didn't even want on the registry but FI loves pickles!  Go figure that it would be the first thing gone!

We've had a couple gifts shipped to our house from people who can't make the shower - nothing better than coming home to a big Williams Sonoma box :)

Now I am OBSESSED with my registry.  My shower is on Sunday so things are flying.  Each day my FI teases me and goes, so what did we get today?  And then he feigns excitement at a breadmaker.  He will be more excited when he gets the bread out of it!

Sorry thought I had already replied but didn't! Thanks for answering my question! :) I think we will wait until we have a get together or something before busting em out to use. It's just us 2 for now and I don't feel like hand washing all those settings to put away just yet! Lol. (no dishwasher blah)

Oh and thanks for the bride that answered my serving piece question!

Haha sorry I made you into a stalker too...it's so hard to quit once you start!
  • One last thought, I've been trying to be good and not use the new items, but we had that HUGE snowstorm up here a few weeks ago and I was snowed in.  I ended up using the new silicone muffin pans...  it was the cabin fever!

  • I *love* looking at my registries, but my shower is this weekend (eek!) so I'm making myself not look. It is so hard to not look! I usually have no self control and kind of hate surprises if I know they are coming, so this is a serious feat of self control. I really want to have those moments of sincere excitment when the person who purchased the item for me can see. Man is it hard! haha
