March 2012 Weddings

Anyone invite their co-workers?

I got an RSVP accepting for 2 out of 3 of the presidents at my company, and the CFO. OMG. Totally didn't expect that. There have been 2 weddings they haven't gone to in the past 4 years I've been here.

I also invited other co-workers. So far, 6 consultants and 2 technicians have RSVPd yes. I waiting on 2 admin and 2 of my Business Dev. colleagues. I'm pretty sure they'll go :)

Our company always does annual Lake Day and has Christmas parties so we are all pretty close. Actually, one of the technician's wives is my coordinator. :)

I'm so excited! I guess it's wierd bc I never thought I'd have my family and my co-workers in the same room! lol! Anyone else?

  • I work @ a small law office & invited everyone b/c they are like family to me.  Our firm is extremely active in the community so we have already had several events where family & work family come together. It would have been really awkward if we didn't invite them!

That's really cool. I'd say our office is fairly small (I literally listed all the people in OP lol), but I never thought once about whether or not they would get the invitation. They love my FI lol
  • I am inviting some that I am close to. I work in a hospital and there are over 300 employees so I am only inviting a select few, that and I don't know every one here.

  • I didn't invite any of my co-workers. While I enjoy working with them, I don't socialize with any of them outside of work. It was harder for FI, because we do occasionally see his outside of work, but our budget/numbers just wouldn't allow us to. My boss is actually going to come to the wedding and then take my niece and nephew so my sister and brother-in-law can enjoy the reception. I thought that was super nice of her!

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • I invited the coworkers I socialize with outside of work, plus 2 others that I work closely with.

  • I did not. I was in school when we got engaged and I didn't start at my current job until October. Plus it is in a different state. My Fi did tell some of his RAs (he is a hall director of a residence hall on campus) that if they make the drive out he wont stop them from coming. It'll be interesting to see if any of them do!

  • I work in a big office but only invited 2 of my co workers who I work with on a daily basis and I invited my boss who I answer directly too. I didn't invite any of the bosses above my boss or any other co workers in different departments. I would of liked to but the guest list would of gotten out of control if I did.
  • i invited alot of coworkers, but i work in a small bank so were all pretty close

  • I invited my boss and my co-worker because I've known my co-worker since I was like 8 and my boss since I was about 15. Lol - I have a out of the ordinary job/co-workers. But they unfortuantely can't make it due to travel.

FI invited about 15 people from his work center and almost all are coming.

  • I only invited my boss and the attorney in the office that I work for.  While I wanted to invite a few others - one our budget really wouldn't allow - and two I didn't want to open the flood gates or get the why were they invited and not me.
  • I am NOT inviting any one from work. I cant stand them and I already put in my 2 weeks.  But FI invited a lot of people from his work. He isnt inviting everyone from there.

  • I'm inviting quite a few people from work but am not sure who will come. Our company is still relatively small and I'm really close with a lot of them. Even those who I don't socialize with outside of work feel like good friends. I didn't invite any bosses, though, I thought that would turn into a big mess.

  • Same with me!

I get so weirded out by that. I've invited a lot of coworkers to my wedding too, but for me what's weirding me out more is our Stag and Doe tomorrow.

EVERYONE from work is coming. EVERYONE I work with, and all of my family. It's crazy because we'll all be together and I honestly never thought I'd get all of these different groups into one room.

  • I invited the people that do the same job I do, the secretary, and my boss.  So far the secretary is coming, haven't heard from my boss, and of the 11 others I've gotten 2 no and 2 yes.  I'm looking forward to having everyone in the same room.  :)

Yea, I thik the more I think about it, the more excited I am. Don't get me wrong, my family IS crazy lol, but I think it is great that they want to share the celebration with us. :)

Sorry for my total ignorance...but what is a Stag and Doe?
  • We decided not to invite anyone from work. FI and I both work at the same restuarant and if we invite a few people we feel like we have to invite like 40. Plus we work at the Hard Rock Hotel and my coworkers do not have the same idea of a party as my mom and grandma. We are having a pool party for all the work people a few weeks after our honeymoon when we will be in slow season at work.
  • I technically only have two co-workers (although technically they are my employees).

I'm marrying one.  The other is my MOH.  Laughing

I believe in a lot of things. I believe in fresh tennis balls, the healing power of bunnies, and that the novels of Susan Sontag are something I'll never read. In fact, I don't even know who Susan Sontag is. What is she... like... a painter? I believe in Crystal Lite because I believe in ME. I believe in the movies of Val Kilmer, though these days it ain't so easy. I believe in Darren Sproles, the word "dabble", the first season of "Silk Stockings", and big, warm, moist, gooey chocolate chip cookies that melt in your mouth and all over your face.

  • JP invited his boss from his current job and a few people from his old job. I invited the 3 teachers on my team (I couldn't not invite them although I'm not SUPER close to them) and a handful from the old school I use to teach at that I'm really close to. Between all of my coworkers, JP's, and their guests, I believe it's a total of 14 guests.

  • I've invited my immediate supervisor and one co-worker. Our wedding is destination for them (at my family home in New Zealand but I live and work in Australia) so they were the only to that I thought would even consider coming. And they both are, which is amazing!
  • I'm a teacher in a rather large elementary school, so I couldn't possibly invite everyone I come into contact with on a daily basis. There are a few teachers I would have really liked to invite, but our budget wouldn't allow it. So, I invited my current suitemate, my aide, and my old suitemate (who taught next to me for 2 years, including the year we got engaged). I also invited another teacher friend who worked at our school for a short while, but we became friends and still stay in contact. I didn't invite my boss, because then I'd feel like I was slighting the entire office staff, and we just can't afford to invite them all unfortunately, even though I would love to have them there.

My work structure is not the typical office... I only have one coworker in my office, and I invited him and his family.  My direct supervisor is in a different office about 100 miles away, and I invited him and his family, as well as my "next" supervisor, who is in DC.  Finally, we invited the "big boss"... the equivalent of the CEO or owner, so to speak.  So in total, we invited 4 people from my office, as well as their families.  We only expect my coworker and the "big boss" to attend.

My FI, however, works in a very large company and is good friends with many of the people he works with.  I'm not sure how many of them received invites, but they make up a good portion of "his" guests.
