Jewelry or bolero for a strapless dress with very plain bodice

Hello! I panicked when going dress shopping at the poofs and bows, and lace, and decided on a dress with lace around the waist and on the train, but a very plain bodice (see the attached image from a fitting).

Now I am thinking that I would like to make it particularly special with my jewelry choices or even a matching lace bolero.

I don't have pierced ears, but would be willing to get them done, if it's recommended to go with earrings as well as a necklace. I'm open to suggestions!

I want to wear a fingertip length veil, hopefully with a bit of lace around the edge, but I haven't had a chance to shop for it yet.

The lace on the dress is alencon -- I don't know if that makes a difference when matching lace styles?

I'm living abroad for work, so don't have my dress with me and only have access to online shopping for the moment but I will be in New Zealand for Christmas, and the UK in May, just before the wedding in Tuscany.

I was wondering if anyone could suggest jewelry sets or a style of bolero for my dress (attached). Our wedding will be a civil ceremony, but the reception is in the evening at a castle, and my fiance is Italian, so I would like something lovely but also classic.

I'm planning on wearing my hair up -- and yes, hair pins and accessory recommendations would also be welcome!

No specific suggestions but I wanted to comment on your ear-piercing plan. It's totally up to you whether or not you want to pierce your ears, BUT if you did end up going with earring you can't possibly know right now how sensitive your ears are so that makes buying jewelry tough.

Piercing also doesn't always work smoothly the first try. Shortly after I got my ears pierced I got an infection and had to let my piercing heal over. I wasn't supposed to pierce again until 6 mo to a year later. So if you're going to do it, get your ears pierced soon so you have time to let them heal and figure out what you are comfortable with.

Boleros are not may fav look. I would stick with a lovely necklace...something classic with pearls perhaps. check out etsy.com.

Also if you don't have pierce ears now, don't get them done...the previous poster is right...I got my done as a kid but have neve been able to wear costum jewellery earrings....the skin is just too sensitive...besides yoiur fiance obviously thinks you are beautiful as you are....don't change it. Hair pins will give plenty of sparkle....

your dress (and figure) are gorgeous by the way...

I love the idea of a lace bolero with a pair of drop earrings.

I do not have pierced ears, but wore drop earrings for my wedding. You can get clip-ons, but IMO the most comfortable earrings have screw-backs. These can be hard to find these days, so I'd recommend searching for vintage ones. Ebay is a great source.

I did not wind up finding any vintage ones I liked, so I instead took apart a pair of vintage earrings and used them to convert a pair of pierced earrings from Camille La Vie into screwback ones. You can see the results in my married bio if you're interested.

If you are wearing fancier headpins, I would maybe do simple or drop pearl earrings. Nothing too fancy or you will be too accessorized on the top.

With Alencon lace, I'd do a mantilla veil with the same lace around the edges. Pearls are always a classic look and are great paired with lace, so I'd also recommend a simple strand of pearls. (Freshwater or really nice fakes if you're looking to save money)

I love your dress! It looks fabulous on you!

I'm wearing an alencon lace jacket, but only because I'm *ahem* more mature and want to hide my upper arms........you however do not have that problem. With a veil, it might be a bit much, unless you think you might be cold, then it would offer some very little warmth.

I think what you might want to do is match the laciness of the dress with a necklace. I went searching on google for "pearl bib necklace" and found these (don't know your price range)
