Payment to Photographer?

My FI and I just reviewed the contract for our photographer before we decide to sign, she is asking for full payment 7 days prior to the wedding.

Is this standard? I thought you pay the venders the final price at the wedding, but wasn't sure.

    Nothing wrong with this at all.  On the day of the wedding there will be too much going on to worry about payment and vendors know this.  Most of my vendors (florist, DJ, cake) wanted payment 2 weeks before and I think for my photographer it was a month.

    it's pretty typical. my photographer requires the $ a week before as well... 

    i think it's pretty understandable too... can you imagine getting there and working all day to find out that you aren't going to be paid b/c the couple over extended themselves.

    Awww, thanks so much!  I had the idea to do a half up and the lady helping me with my veil suggested a pretty comb which held the veil in the back.
