Inexpensive bouquets

Help!  My mom is doing all my centerpieces but recently thought we should just have a florist do our bouquets.  They will be simple hydrangea bouquets.  Anyone have a very affordable recommendation?

I'm sure you probably don't want to hear this but hydrangeas dont' do well when they aren't in water. My friend had them for her wedding and by the time they were going down the aisle (after pics and such) they were wilting and browning. But maybe that was an isolated thing so I would talk with a florist. We are using Deven Nelson and she has been great so far!

She said that hydrangeas are a little more spendy to work with. For the BM's bouquets I wanted peonies and hydrangeas and she qouted me at $60 per bouquet but if I took the hydrangeas out, the price dropped to $40 a bouquet, which I think it very reasonable.

I second the recommendation for Deven Nelson.  Extremely reasonably priced, easy to work with, and willing to take small projects - she's just doing bouquets, boutennieres and corsages for us.  She will be honest with you about the flowers, and what will work best for you.

I too am a hydrangea lover (seriously, I planted five hydrangea bushes in my garden last summer - I'm obsessed), but I was scared off by the potential for wilting. Is it the size of the hydrangea that you like? The "ruffle-y" texture? For me it's the texture, so my florist is mimicking the texture with other flowers - my bouquet will have lisianthus, dahlias, sweet peas, etc. I chose my florist on style, not price, so I'm not much help there but I've heard good things about Deven Nelson, Simply Stated Elegance, Sadie's, etc.

I second Christine's Floral Touch. She did my wedding and did a fantastic job. We had hydrangea's for the flower girls bouquets and they lasted until well into the evening. They were beautiful.

Ditto what Viejes said about hydrangeas. We were originally thinking about having them, but almost every florist said that they don't last as long as other flowers. They said that if we wanted to make sure they got in water at every possible occasion, they'd be ok, but that would mean toting vases with water with us while we did photos and sticking them in there whenever they weren't going to be in a shot. That being said, Sadie (http://www.sadiesfloral.com/) said that she uses special hydrangeas that come with a coating or some something that allows them to stay well hydrated. However, she was way more expensive than the other florists we talked to. We ended up with Deven Nelson as well. She was super great to work with and can offer great substitutions.

I am going with Jeni at Simply Stated Elegance.  She was really inexspensive compared to other florists.  She has lot of rental items for super cheap also.  Hope that helps and good luck on your flowers :)

I did a wedding last year with just hydrangea's and they turned out wonderful!  No wilting if they are hydrated properly!  I do wedding and event florals out of my home studio.  If you are interested in a quote I would be more than happy to meet with you.  Check out my website  http://www.ellajeanfloraldesign.com
