Interesting Situation

I know someone who got married last August, currently on FB she is in a relationship with a new person.  However, she hasn't changed her name on FB.

I'm not the biggest fan of FB but, I think it is interesting to change your relationship status without removing your married name. She has also removed most of the wedding photos.

Maybe you're not able to remove the name?  I'm not sure.

I think its sad that their marriage didn't even last a year, hopefully she is happy...

Huh.  Yeah, that strikes me as a little strange too.  Maybe something bad happened between her and the previous husband, and she didn't want to make a big deal out of it/ was hoping people wouldn't notice or ask?

Unless she legally changed her name back to her maiden name when she split, why would she change her name on FB? It's such a PITA to change names that I'd just keep my current one rather than go through the process again.

I'm sorry she still has First Maiden Married names on FB

Why wouldn't she remove her married name?

I think if the situation would happen to me I would remove myself from FB, but I'm not a very public person when it comes to my business.

Her legal name might be First Maiden Married.  I know if/when I ever get around to changing my name, I plan to keep my maiden name as a middle name.  You never know what her situation is.

It is sad the marriage didn't even make it a year.

My step mom was divorced about 7 years before her and my dad met. She still had her married name from her previous marriage. She kept it until she married my dad, then changed it to his last name. I've always thought keeping your name after divorce was pretty common? Like PPs said, its hard to change everything, and its probably extremely emotional to go back to your former name after a marriage has ended.

My mom is divorced and will be permanently keeping her married name too, but I think if my marriage ended after less than a year and I was at the age I am now, I would definitely switch back.  I can't imagine keeping someone else's name after such a brief marriage, truthfully, even though the whole name change process is such a pain.

My mom has been married twice and didn't drop her married name from the first marriage. On face FB her name shows her First, Maiden, First Marriage and Current Marriage Names, (it's a hot mess) but that's her name. Mostly it came down to not dealing with the hassle of changing names so she just added them.

It is sad that their marriage didn't make it a year, hopefully for whatever reason it did not they will be happy again.

Jen I agree with you.  She is only 25 maybe?

Its just a sad situation to have spilled all over FB.
