Thursday Accountability

Oh man it was hard to get out of bed today, and not just because my legs are sore!

B: oats, chocolate/PB/banana style, coffee w/ skim milk
S: apple and a yogurt cup
L: TBD, this is the week of unprepared lunches!
S: a crap ton of baby carrots because I forgot to pack almonds too.
D: TBD, I'm thinking roasted chicken on a bag salad, something quick and easy for after the gym

E: FBB Dial It In phase, A4
PW: chocolate raspberry protein shake (must remember to buy more frozen raspberries)

  • Hey! My knee started hurting IN THE SHOWER this morning. Just from, you know, the extreme effort of standing. This is ridiculous. Anyone have any advice for IT band issues?

    B: Avocado, banana, coffee.
    S: Apple.
    L: Lean Cuisine, pear.
    S: Cherry yogurt.
    D: Chipotle + multiple beers. (My last exam is at 5pm. :) )

    E: Stretching. Might try to do an hour of yoga tonight if it doesn't bug out my knee. I'm starting to feel pretty antsy.

    D: mac and cheese (I know this is a lot of cheese for the day, but I've apparently lost weight that I did not want to drop!)

  • katetw: I had irritation and inflamation of the IT band in my left leg, with pain starting in my knee and radiating up to my hip, for over a year. I ran three marathons with it, bleh. For me, the worst position was just sitting in a chair. It was ridiculous: I'd be in class, and my knee would be killing me, just sitting there. So stupid. Besides the usual anti-inflamatory (aspirin or ibuprofen) routine, I found some hip stretches that really helped (just google if you don't know them already), and sometimes I would lie on my affected side with a tennis ball near the insertion point of the band at my hip to help stretch it out.

    This sounds dumb, but what I found helped me most of all was sitting in chairs with my bad knee pulled up to my chest (bottom of foot on seat of chair). I found the position by accident, trying to find a way to make it through 3 hours of class, but I think the stretching helped too. Good luck!
  • katew, a foam roller will help (and hurt like a bitch, but it's a good hurt) with IT issues too!

  • Really late on this today. My deadline is Christmas Eve though and we aren't even open that day :(

    B - peach activia w/ banana nut VitaTop muffin top
    S - 1/2 mini apple w/ 1/2T nutella
    L - other half of my leftover turkey wrap from last night (turkey, lettuce, tomato, sweet peppers and mayo on whole wheat wrap), 1/2 oz. bbq pop chips
    S - other half of mini apple w/ 1/2 T nutella
    D - chicken quesadilla with some sort of rice or soup maybe
    S - TBD

    E - rest day to let my calves recover from my run yesterday.

  • Only 2 more days of work, including today! Woo!

    B- Oatmeal with dried tart cherries
    L- Black bean soup,1/2 greek salad, roll (Panera)
    S- Cinnamon applesauce, part of a bagel
    D- Artichoke fritatta, green beans, roll (was supposed to have this earlier this week)
    S- Homemade oatmeal choco chip cookie

    E- 1 hour weightlifting class
