Just cancelled my photographer/videographer

Hey ladies!
It's my first time posting today. My wedding is 11/11/11. My fiance and I booked with The Pro's for our photographer/videographer. I just read some horrible things about them in the Philadelphia section today and I immediatley called and cancelled. I got my deposit back thank god. Now, Im trying to find a photographer and videographer to fit in our budget. The total cost of our package with The Pro's including tax was $5176.33 without tax and shipping & handling costs it was $2095.00 for the videographer and $2245.00 for the photographer. Does anyone know any photographers/videographers that would fit those price ranges? I wouldnt mind paying more for the photographer and less for the videographer as long as it evens out. I need the photographer for about 10 hours being as though our pictures are being taken before hand because it is a 5pm ceremony. I also want someone who is fimilair with navigating around Love Park, City Hall, The Art Musuem & The Parkway because that is where we want our pictures taken. Im kind of at a loss and really dont want our pictures to turn out badly, I mean who does?! Help!! Thanks.

I am using Per Sempre videos (save the date video in my bio) and Sharyn Frenkel for my photog. Both are in your price range.

Another videographer is Martins, which many girls use on the board but they are NMS.

Other photogs are Marc Anthony, Sarah Schulte, Rich Lavigne, Mike Landis....

You will find someone really great for that budget!

I think Martins video is around $900 which leaves for quite a bit for a fab photog. Congrats on going with your gut.

I suggest looking at:

Mike Landis

Spark

Jenn Childress.

To start with, there are many, many others those are some of my personal favs.

The photogs mentioned above are great. I would also like to throw a shout out for Todd Zimmerman / Pictures by Todd. His work is amazing and I always forget to recommend him.

I am using Marc Anthony as my photographer and he is awesome! Definitely check out his site. I'm not doing a video though, so I can't help there. Good luck!

Thanks ladies! Okay, so quick question though, what does NMS mean? I have a meeting tonight with Marc Anthony. His prices included sales tax so that helps! Im going to check out Martins and all the others you gals have mentioned.

I'm using Marc Anthony for my wedding and dude equals awesome. We booked him early so we have his 2008 pricing but it's not that more now then it was back then.

For Video i'm using ....uhh.....lemme check my spreadsheet, Oh yea, Ken stillman. The package we got with him was $1500 which includes the video being in HD.

I used Martin's. What's great about them is you pay $495 before the wedding when you book and the final $400 you pay when you pick up your dvd, so it helped us with our budget concerns.

Around 1k or so. He is just really nice, and really creative. Can't go wrong with him. The save the date video was included in that price.

We are using Marrero Photography- they are based in South Jersey, came highly recommended and their pricing was competitive. A sweet husband and wife team!

They in turn recommended Walash Video in Phoenixville- another husband and wife team who were really great and their work is fabulous (they should probably be charging more for their level of quality IMHO)

Marrero Photog. is on the knot's vendors listing under South Jersey Walsh Video isn't since they are a samller operation- personally FI and I have had better luck with the smaller operations, get more bang for your $.

Check out Ken Stillman's video packages. We are using him, despite other people on here posting how it takes a year to get your full video back. For the quality of his work, it was worth it to us - and he does a same-day edit which is shown at your wedding. It's called his BIG video show and it is a 3-4 minute trailer highlighting your day, from bride/groom preps up until the first dance. I am sooooo excited to have this shown at our wedding! I think it's such a unique touch that will WOW our guests. Then you can also show a short video to people who didn't/couldn't come to your wedding...and it will hold you over until you get the full one back in 9 months or so.

The package we got is $1500 and includes everything.

Number one, you made a GREAT decision in dropping the Pros. In fact, I don't know how they haven't been sued for false advertising by calling themselves the Pros. Anyway, Marc is absolutely hands-down the best photographer in your price range, even if you wanted to spend $4000, he's still the best in my opinion. You are going to frickin' love him.

Ditto all the other recs here. We personally used Candid Moments and love loved loved Doug. Pics from start to finish of our wedding in my bio. Another favorite who will be something of an investment (more than Marc Anthony, Rich, or Sharyn) is Tony Hoffer. I personally don't think there is ANYONE out there better, period. I wish I knew about him before I booked Doug, although Doug is also amazing.

Wow, I am shocked the pros get away with charging so much for video.. You can do 100000x better for half the price! I second Martins and Per Sempre. Ken Stillman does good work, but he makes you wait over a year for your video, which I think it a little nuts.

I loved my video and Leslie, the owner was SO easy to work with! She really got all the detail shots of the day and edited the video in a much faster time than a lot of the other videographers! I would highly recommend calling her for prices, she is really reasonably priced!

Thank you everyone so much for your help! I met with Marc Anthony toninght and let me tell you I LOVEDDDDDDDDDDD him!!! I cannot believe I dodged that freaking bullet with the pros. He is amazing and I just think he is a great person too, such an awesome vibe, my fiance and I left there on cloud 9. Also, checked out Per Sempre & love them too! I emailed them and am waiting for a respones.

How did you get out of the contract and get your money back???

Im very interested in that cause I booked Bella Pictures for photos and regretted it after making the first deposit. we're still going with them so i dont lose $2000 but i'm really nervous about it. I just don't know what to say to get out of a contract and get my money back....I dont think it'll happen but you did so that gives me a bit of hope.

Same thing happened people wrote bad reviews now i'm nervous..ugh

i got out of something similar when i first booked a photog. I told the guy that my FI, who works at naval hospital, got "orders" and the wedding was was being changed but didn't know when. of course he refunded us b/c he felt bad. I know it was a little evil, but you gotta do what you gotta do....and im so happy i did! im psyched about my new photog..i would've regretted the "factory like pictures".

Well, since the photographer did not call me like she was supposed to (since I couldnt meet with her bc they dont do that) before our cancellation date, I said I wanted to cancel, she said we will extend your cancellation date until she calls. She never called and after reading awful reviews yesterday I cancelled. If I had to I would lie and try to get my money back. You do have to do what ya gotta do.

I booked Martin's Accent Video- They are $970 for my hours (I needed extra hours then most)... their normal package is $895.

My photographer, Joe Pulcinella is $4525... including 10x10 digital flush album, engagement session with cd of all rights and every picture, same for the wedding day, 2 photographers and all day coverage. I hope this helps!

Do you know how much their packages run? I liked their demo's but unfortunatley he cant meet with us until July 25th bc his wife is being induced tomorrow. And Steve at Per Sempre is possibly moving south for his wife's job opp so he may not be doing weddings up here anymore he wont know until Jan and since we are 11/11/11 I dont wanna take the chance.

FH and I are going with Liz Warnek Photography (she's amazing both professionally and personally) as well as Branded Productions which used to be Branded Video.

Photographer for the 3 album package and all day shooting plus an extra photog came just under 4000 (she has other deals as well) and videographer was 1500.

If you need websites just ask, I'm at work, and thus should technically not be on the knot. eh well, its a slow day.....
