Help shoe dye!

We had our first dance lesson tonight and the instructor said to bring my wedding shoes. I love them. They are royal blue satin. But when I took them off half way thru the lesson (they are slippery and she recommended getting suede attached to the underside of the toes) I have blue dye all over my feet! And later I noticed some on my hands just from putting them on and taking them off. I don't want to get dye all over my dress and certainly don't want to spend my wedding night with blue feet. Any suggestions to make this stop? Will it just stop eventually if I wear them enough between now and my wedding day?

Re: Help shoe dye!

  • Did you have them dyed?  If so, that's what they do.  I had a pair that were dyed red for a friends wedding and my feet looked like they were bleeding for two days.  If they were dyed, you can ask the place that dyed them if they have a protectant spray that you can put on it so they will stop (maybe something like a water resistant spray).  If you purchased them like that (as in you didn't have them dyed from another color), then I would take them back and complain.  Good luck.

  • I had my shoes dyed at Davids and sprayed them pretty well with a sealer/water protectant and I didn't have any problems. I would try that and that should help.

  • Yeah I sprayed mine with sealant/protector before my wedding (and was already warned if they do get wet they can bleed) And it rained, I had a little bit of purple at the end of the day,but it washed right off.

I say spray them really good, and let them dry overnight. And try again. Good luck!
