Disney or Orlando Resorts

Hello Ladies!!!
My wedding is August 22nd so we would want to travel that Monday night or Tuesday Morning for Honeymoon which we decided we want to do something fun so who else to hang with but Mickey and Minnie Mouse :-)
I am searching for reasonable resorts preferably rated 3.5-4 stars in Disney for late August..I was considering Bookit.com but never dealt with them before because their prices are low I can get a 5 night, 6 day trip to Orlando including airfare for as low as $1100 but not too sure on that travel agency...Helpful Suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Re: Disney or Orlando Resorts

  • My friend Kim Rohloff is pretty much a Disney super star if you want to talk with her. (she's going on her 19th trip to Disney World in June and is in her 30s, lol.)  Anyway, she is a travel agent at Fox World Travel and I'm sure she could help you out.  Her number is 888-369-8785.  I've never thought to take a honeymoon to Disney... that might be fun!  I could see pairing it with a cruise or something just because I'm a fun in the sun kind of girl and love the ocean!

  • We stayed at Pop Century 2 years ago.
Definitely reasonable, and certainly nice, but there are way nicer Disney Resorts.
I stayed at caribbean Beach Resort once too... that was a little nicer.

Being married is a real thriller! =)

  • A co-worker suggested Carribbean Beach Resort too...I like this resort but its kinda pricey however im getting my moneys worth they include free shuttles to the theme parks :) Thanks I will look into Pop Century
  • I would stay at one of the Disney resorts even though they're all little more expensive. Like pp said, the Pop Century is very nice and is a resonable price. The All-Star Resorts are similar. They all have a AAA discount too so use your card if you have one.

  • I used Bookit about a year ago for a weeks vacation at an all-inclusive in Mexico and it was definately the same as using other online travel websites (expedia,etc.).  I was a little scared to use them since there prices were so much cheaper, but had no problems at all.

No Disney suggestions but definately use Bookit if it is the cheapest option!

  • The free shuttles are defeteinly worth paying a little extra for when you consider the cost and headache of driving into the park from outside. You can also go back to your room for a rest mid-day if you want very easily and have access to "bonus hours" (ask about them at the hotel) that are only available to Disney Resort guests.

  • I don't have any Disney recs for you, but I can recommend bookit.com we used it for booking hotel rooms in the past and yes their deals are actually that good and it works the same as using any other online booking site. GL and HTH! :0)
  • I have stayed at the Port Orleans and Caribean Beach.... and both are great. They are the moderate level.... and I think Port Orleans was just a little better. We always booked through Mouse Fan Travel and they have been great.... and I think they have the free dining plan right now if you stay at a Disney resort, which can save a TON of money!

  • I agree with others that you most definitely need to stay at a disney hotel. You get free transport to and from the airport and to all the parks and you'll waste less time traveling.  plus their hotels are awesome.

That said,  I would not recommend that you stay at the pop century or the all sports hotels especially for your honeymoon.  They are the opposite of all the other disney hotels. There is not much greenery or beautiful trees and flowers everywhere. Instead, there's a lot of cement and gigantic neon sculptures of random things. It's not relaxing or pretty.  It's much more kid-centered.  You should stay somewhere nicer on your honeymoon.

For a mid priced hotel, I think the carribbean beach is very nice and I also agree with Port Orleans.

If you can spend a little more, I'd recommend the Polynesian.  It is an amazing atmosphere, so beautiful and you can take the monorail straight from your hotel to epcot and the magic kingdom.  It's so much faster than taking the bus from the other resorts.
  • We are going to WDW in September.  Staying at Port Orleans-Riverside.  They have gorse-drawn carriage rides, etc.
