Exactly, Manda. I'd flame someone new if they just showed up asking for votes for something. I wouldn't flame any of the people who I talk to every day for asking here if we weren't FB friends yet. The internet is not so different from real life after all - I didn't go to the Starbucks next door to ask people to vote for my photo because I don't know them. I "know" you guys.

But now we all ARE friends, so it's not an issue.

I 100% agree, and I feel like that point is always made rather clearly when a new person does show up all "vote for me to win the universe!!!"

It was such mild judgment, they're like "I really like Emily, but..." that it hardly seems like a flame at all. I think it's cause she's so pretty. She could probably kick my dog and I'd just tweak her nose and make honking noses, like Mr Myagi.

Birdie - AK is on my friends list.......it's AW I believe.

Also. Emily - I almost said how this post was hypocritical on what we typically do.....however, yes, I feel differently because I "know" you. ALSO - it's not a wedding related contest - AND - I just really care about you getting a nice chunk of change gift card. We all know our "likes" probably aren't going to do anything for you for the contest part of it.

Also. I think we've changed a lot of things we used to flame immediately and become much different about them. Look how many "IM NEW AND INTRODUCING MYSELF" posts we have that haven't gotten flamed in the past few months.

Boards can evolve. We're not as mean as people think. One day we might even have opposable thumbs or fly to the moon!

Stacks, I was fully prepared for no likes, a few responses like Kiki's and TR's and a few "Emily, are you high, this is ridiculous, please stop now." I got that people might judge this post, but I also hoped that the people whose opinion I care about would give me the benefit of the doubt and at worst see it as a stupid thing I did rather than see me as a totally stupid person like they might have if we didn't have any background to go on.

And instead it turned into massive friending and general silliness, which is great!

Mandy, it's on like page 6 of their AYG thread. Mel's right, it's really mild. The worst was someone I've literally never talked to saying she was going to like everyone else's photos. Go for it - I hope they can all win the money too!

Mandy, you are a love. And no, I haven't had Colombian/tomato-based ceviche - sounds yummy! I've had lots of Chilean and Peruvian ceviche, and I love that, so I'm pretty sure I'd like other versions. I really want to go to Colombia.
