Who to invite to shower?

My FMIL needs a list of invitees to my bridal shower, but I'm stumped about who's invited!

Do people usually invite EVERY female on your guest list? A lot of our guy friends are bringing their SOs, but I wouldn't feel comfortable inviting those women to my shower.

Also, do I invite OOT guests who I know aren't likely to travel to MN for a shower?

Any help would be SO appreciated! Thanks!

Im not a bride to be as of right now but I am helping my friend plan her wedding and offered to throw her a shower.  I dont think that you have to invite every woman who is on your wedding guest list to your shower.  Invite who you want to share your shower with.  Just as long as they are invited to the wedding.  As for the OOT part, if you would be happy with them being there, I dont see a problem with inviting them.  I was invited to my bf's cousins baby shower that was out of state and I thought it was a nice gesture to include me even though I wouldnt be able to make it.  HTH!

This is what I gathered/learned from research and recently having my own bridal shower; though I had two showers, one friend and one family.

The only OOT guests I invited, even though I knew they wouldn't come were his siblings, I don't have any, because they are family and would appreciate the invite anyway, and some still got me gifts for the shower.

Otherwise stick with close female family friends and family. No need to invite guy friends SO's or groomsman SO's unless they are family. For my friend one, I invited strictly every female friend that I was inviting to the wedding. For the family one, my bridal party was invited but no other friends. It was just family and close family friends and I think it worked out just fine. Hope that helps!

</div><div>I had three showers. 1:my side 2:DH's side 3:friends side I wanted to do two, by combining the family shower into one, but there were just way too many people, and I wanted a smaller shower, so I can make it meaningful for everyone, including myself. </div><div>
</div><div>I invited my wedding party (two girls) to all three. I invited my mom and DH's mom to both of the family showers.  For my side I also included my Godmother and some close family friends to this one. For the family ones I invited all of the Aunts, in town or OOT, decided to leave it up to them if they wanted to make it or not. Most of the OOT did not come, but I got gifts from them, so that was a Very nice gesture! For the Friends shower I invited all of the DH's sisters (they are close enough to friends for this to work for me), and some of DH's friends SO's, not all of them, but just the few that I have either clicked with or wanted to get closer to. I left it up to them if they wanted to come. </div><div>
</div><div>I'd say it is up to what you feel like. I have been involved with other weddings were I was a BM and not invited to anything but the friend shower, since the bride fleet like she was being gift graby. --I just sent an email and told my girls they can come, but I did not want a gift from them :) </div>

Thanks ladies! I should say that I'm only having one bridal shower, if that makes a difference.

<div>I would also ask the host how many people she wants to cap the invite list to. one of my Aunts said I can have up to 20 people there, since it was at her house. </div>

My sister threw my bachelorette party which had a personal shower before hand.  I invited my girlfriends and FI's friends wives.  FI's aunt is throwing me a shower and to that I invited FI's mom's side and FI's dad's side.  I was not going to invite my family as I didn't want the invite list to be too big and they were all from OOT, but the aunt told me to include them so they didn't feel left out.

First ask how many your host can afford to host. Then put together a list of your nearest and dearest female friends and relatives within that number. Just make sure that all the shower invitees are also invited to the wedding.
