South Hills Venue

Good morning!!!

I am looking to have a cocktail hour to get the families together before all the wedding festivities kick off.  I need somewhere between the North Hills where my family is from and Washington PA where his family is...  However I am woefully unfamiliar with the South Hills area and don't even know where to begin looking.

We want to have a place where 50 or so guests can have a few drinks, snack on some munchies and generally mingle.  The age groups would be vaired so nothing too hip (dont' want to scare off the future family!).

ANY suggestions would be amazing!!  Thanks!

I would head more for closer to the city-the drive from Washington to the S Hills is far more convenient than driving from the N Hills to the S Hills. There is nothing convenient about the S Hills-coming from someone that lives there! Ugh!

What about a restaurant on Mt Washington?

I hadn't thought of nearer to the city... Mt Washington may be a tad pricey.  Not sure though, I'll have to see what's around.

    Thanks!

    1. Calabria's Restaurant on RT 88 in Castle Shannon

    2. Atria's in Mt. Lebanon (loooove their food)

Is 79 convenient for the family coming from the North?  Burgh's in Bridgeville has a nice, private room you can reserve (rent?).  There is a bar in the room and you could also have a buffet of hor' dourves.  Not sure of the cost or if you wanted to do something along those lines, but it's an option!

There is also a newer restaurant at the corner of Greentree Rd and Cochran Rd called Andora.  There is also one is Sewickly that's probably been around longer.  I've never been there, but I thought I would offer the idea after finding it a few weeks ago on Open Table.

Atria's on Beverly Road is a nice option...it's easy to get to from both directions.
Bistro 19 in Mt. Lebanon (on Washington Road) is nice...slightly on the trendy side, but totally appropriate for older people.
I've never been, but Iovinos in Mt. Lebanon, also on Beverly Road could be a good option...it's supposed to have good food.

For a more casual atmosphere, you can try Bado's, also on Beverly Road.  It's a pizza/pub place.  But there's an upstairs room you could use.
Il Pizziolo (Mt. Lebo, Washington Rd) is nice and you could have your own room.  It's upscale pizza.

I haven't been, but I've heard good things about the food at Franco's Trattoria in Mt Lebo.
