Okay, I need you all's help. Dre and I are going to take a mini-moon to New Orleans. We have never been so I'm hoping my girls can suggest some hotels, jazz clubs, bar's and places that we can get our grub on.

Yum! I heard about those......frozen and on the rocks! This is a must.
Oooohweee! First let me say, I am coming to meet yall!!!! LOL!
Okay, what are you looking for...do you want to stay in the French Quarter's? What are some of your plans...what do you want to do? What is your budget (if you don't mind me asking)...it can get really expensive or it can be budget friendly depending on what you are looking for in accomodations.
There are ALWAYS places to eat! Here are some suggestions that I have:
Mother's
Dooky Chases
Acme Oyster House - it can be a tourist trap, but they still have good food. When I lived in NO CBD, I would go here as a local all the time.
Commander's Palace
The Trolley Stop -...black owned...really good down home cooking and a good price too. It's next to the Clarion Boutque Hotel and Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro on St. Charles. You can take the St. Charles Trolley to get there.
Word of advice...I know many people like to dress up and wear those cute shoes while going on a trip...please do not do that in NO...you will be doing a lot of walking...You want comfort, please Bourbon Street can be kind of nasty...no sandals at night in my opinion :-) I went to Tulane Medical and lived right in the heart of the CBD...have seen so much craziness and Loved every minute of it.
PM me if you want/need any more info. We too are going to do a minimoon in NOLA (1 night) before we head out for our honeymoon
Cha.

the bourbon house "crab fingers" are friggin delicious!! There's also a TON of tours to do. swamp boat tours, cemetery tours. but i suggest the "ghost tour" of the french quarter.
What's your price point on hotels? Do you want to stay in the French quarter or within walking distance to the quarter? On Bourbon there is a place called Alibi's they have the best BBQ shrimp poboys. They go awesome with Hand Grenades and you can get those at Tropical Aisle also on Bourbon. On Poydras there is a hotel called the Whitney....inside there is a restaurant called Lil Dizzy's in the Whitney black owned I know the owner by time you go she will probably be out on maternity leave. Dragos a seafood restaurant in the Hilton by the Riverwalk Of course you must go to Cafe du Monde for beignets and cappuccino. Mothers is a place in New Orleans that no one from New Orleans eats at they are high in price and in my opinion not good. Acme oyster house, landrys, Brennan's, Deanies on Canal, Emeril's is on Tchoupitoulas St in the warehouse district, the French market on Decatur has lots of little shopping places and eateries that's open during the day On Frenchmen street there are a bunch of clubs one is called the Blue Nile and the other is Cafe Negril, that have live bands also there is a restaurant called snug harbor good food bomb ass drink called the MONSOON!! if I think of more I will add more!! I hope you have fun!!

As far as dressing the weather in October is hit or miss so watch the weather in the days prior to your trip. I am with Cha on no open toe shoes on Bourbon. A lot of people get drunk and up chuck and pee on the street. Let me check the festival calendar to see what fests are going on in October. What time frame in October are you all coming? I will also tell you what parties this guy I know named Stan Wiltz may be having as well he's from New Orleans and a party promoter

You are da bomb! We plan to go the weekend of October 19th-22nd.
Case! You wrong for posting the festivals she gonna miss! LOL...not right at all!!! There are many hotels to choose from in the FQ. You can go with LaPavillion which I liked...they have sooo many small boutique hotels too though like Hotel Monteleone, Bourbon New Orleans. I'm not too familiar with the hotels per say. We have always stayed at the Fairmont which is no longer there :-( The Sheranton is close to Bourbon too if you are looking for a mainstream hotel. I suggest, though, a boutique hotel for a minimoon
